Practitioner Ms. Zhang Xinyi from Changsha City Has Been on Hunger Strike for One Month
(Clearwisdom.net) On April 28, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Xinyi
from the Tianxin District in Changsha City, Hunan Province, was again taken away
by police from her home and imprisoned in Changqiao, the Changsha City detention
center. She has been hunger striking to protest the persecution since May 20. Changsha Detention Center officials and others who handled
the case have reportedly prevented Ms. Zhang's relatives and friends from
visiting her. They claim that she "resists transformation stubbornly"
and "is incurable," so they have to brainwash her. Ms. Zhang Xinyi and her husband Li Guojun were refugees
awaiting authorization for asylum from the Cambodian United Nations Refugee
Committee. On August 2, 2002, the Chinese Communist Party colluded with the
Cambodian government to arrest them from their residence in Jinbian and
repatriated them to China. As soon as they returned to China, they were
imprisoned in a detention center. Because international human rights
organizations and righteous people all around the world have been watching Ms.
Zhang, the Communist Party did not kill her, but she has been subjected to
continued detention. We again appeal to the United Nations Human Rights Committee
and the Refugee Head Office to rescue Ms. Zhang Xinyi. Please go to the Changsha
City Detention Center, East No. 1, prison cell four, Hunan Province, to learn
about Ms. Zhang Xinyi's situation. June 27, 2005
