Avoiding Human Notions When Reading Articles on the Clearwisdom Website
Written by a Falun Gong practitioner from China
(Clearwisdom.net) Recently when reading the news on the Clearwisdom
website I felt that my mind was not in a proper state, though I did not know
what the problem was. After some reflection, I realized that the problem was
that I had human notions when reading the articles on Clearwisdom. Many fellow
practitioners have had similar experiences. Many articles on Clearwisdom are reports from the media of ordinary human
society. Therefore, we often understand them from a conventional human
perspective. For example, upon seeing the support from righteous people in
different countries, we unconsciously think, "There are so many people
supporting us. If everyone supports us, the situation will change a lot." This notion seems to be consistent with the Fa principles, but if we think
about it carefully, we can see that it actually comes from the human perspective
of wishing to gain ordinary people's support. Why do some practitioners admire,
flatter, and over-compliment ordinary people who support Dafa? It is because
they do not view the situation from the perspective of the Fa and they have
reversed the relationship between practitioners and ordinary people. I think our first thought when reading this should be, "We have so many
more people who understand the truth now. They are making such beautiful futures
for themselves by supporting Dafa! I feel relieved for these blessed
beings." Comparing this with our previous "unconscious" thoughts, we can see
that the previous thought is far from righteous. It is a conventional human
notion and a huge obstacle in our path of cultivation. This is not easy to
realize, because we think like this without being aware of it. Take another
example: when well-known people (scholars, officials, or members of the
democratic movements) show their support for Dafa, we are very happy that
well-known people support us. This thought reverses the relationship between
practitioners and ordinary people. The correct righteous thought should be,
"Another life has been saved." There are many similar scenarios. For example, while exposing the policemen
who committed crimes against Falun Gong practitioners, we should think,
"The evil behind the policemen ordered him to commit the crimes. He was
ignorant and was used to persecute practitioners. We need to completely deny all
this and eliminate the evil." We should not simply think that the policeman
was persecuting Falun Gong practitioners because we are then viewing things from
a human level. In summary, we should not be moved by the media, which is in the
format of ordinary human society. We need to step away from the human level and
reach the state of cultivators and Dafa disciples. July 26, 2005 |
