Practitioner Hao Ping, from Hongshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, Near-death due to Torture - Her Family Members Destitute from Persecution

Ms. Hao is a Falun Gong practitioner from Qujiagou Village, Hongshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia. Those that knew them considered Ms. Hao Ping, and her five-member family, to be a happy family. The farming family included Ms. Hao's husband, her fourteen year old son, an old man, Wang Zhanjiu, whom they have been supporting for eight years, and Ms. Hao's brother, Hao Gang, whose mind was a little slow (he has lived with the family for 13 years).

In February 2002, police from the Hongshan District National Security Division in Chifeng City suddenly arrived and surrounded Hao Ping's residence. Blatantly violating the Chinese constitution, the police barged through the gates. Some police jumped over the walls with batons, kicking and smashing everything in sight. The family's valuables, their personal belongings, and their bankbook were confiscated. Many people witnessed this incident and collected evidence to prove it.

Hao Ping and her husband were arrested and their residence was destroyed. Everything was totally ruined. The old man, Wang Zhanjiu, could not take the mental blow and passed away sometime later. Hao Ping's mentally challenged older brother now has to live alone. No one knows where he is now, and how he is doing. Their child has no one to support him and thus wanders around homeless and leads a destitute life. The farm that the couple managed with diligence and sweat became a shambles. The family's herd of more than 80 pigs and several dozens dogs are nowhere to be found.

Policemen from the Hongshan District Detention Center grossly abused Hao Ping. The police once locked her up in a metal cage for 24 hours and shocked her with electric batons. On cold nights the police locked her up in a solitary confinement room without allowing her to wear a warm coat. Ms. Hao was handcuffed and made to sit on an ice-cold metal chair for over 20 hours. She was not given any food and was forbidden to go to the washroom. Hao Ping endured the urge to urinate until her lower abdomen ached. She could then no longer endure and wet her pants. The dampness made her even colder. When personnel from the Ministry of Public Security came to inspect the detention center, Falun Gong practitioner Li Hui spoke words of justice for Hao Ping but was imprisoned for her kindness.

After officials from the Hongshan District Police Department arrested Ms. Li Hui, they interrogated and tortured her. The police shocked her with electric batons until she lost consciousness. Then they stripped her and inhumanely wrapped iron wire around her nipples and used remote control to pass an electric current through the wire. The police stepped on Li Hui's arm and twisted it back and forth. They also made others step on Li Hui's head and violently forced her to submit to having her fingerprints taken as falsified evidence that she consented to an illegal sentence of seven and-a-half years. Li Hui originally weighed over 65 kg (about 137 lbs), but after the torture she weighed just a little over 25 kg (about 60 lbs).

Hao Ping was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment and incarcerated in the Inner Mongolia First Women's Prison. Hao Ping's husband was sentenced to five years of imprisonment and was detained in the No. 4 Prison in Chifeng.

As Hao Ping took the lead in the jail to resist the persecution, she suffered persecution at the hands of the police. They made her lie down on the concrete floor and incited criminals to beat her up, resulting in her being unable to walk normally for three days. Criminals Wang Ling and Li Ying etc. frequently tortured her, causing Hao Ping severe mental and physical harm. On July 30, 2004, Hao Ping could not get out of bed due to intense gastric pain. Around 9.00 p.m. criminal Li Ying dragged Hao Ping to the floor like a gunnysack. Hao Ping could move her lower back and arm, she was barefoot and could not stand up. Another criminal gave her a slap across the face. On July 31, Hao Ping could not move her injured back and arm and was resting in bed. The criminals took away her bed-board and made her sleep on the floor in a coma for four days.
