How a Fellow Practitioner Encouraged Me in Adverse Circumstances
(Clearwisdom.net) "W" is one of the Dafa practitioners I knew
when I was in Xinhua Forced Labor Camp. He did not say much, but he was always
very calm and often had a smile on his face. He recited the Fa
whenever he had the time. Whenever I saw him I would forget the harsh
environment that we were in. When I first arrived in the forced labor camp, the atmosphere was extremely
intense, because a practitioner had just been persecuted to death. If a
practitioner did anything that violated camp regulations, he or she would be
dragged out and beaten savagely. In circumstances like these, it took great
courage to validate Dafa. I was a little reluctant, and W noticed this subtle
change in me. When we went to the dining room one day, he smiled at me and said,
"You will no longer be scared once you step forward." Looking at his
good-natured, smiling face, I nodded in understanding. Shortly afterwards the labor camp called a meeting to criticize Dafa, and I
stood up to boycott it. The police in charge of the meeting were alarmed and
panicked. After the initial shock was over, a dozen people carried me out and
dragged me into a room. I remained calm as I lay on the ground. Someone started
to kick me, and the rest of them began beating my head. Three policemen came in
later, one of them a vicious-looking fat man, who kicked me and slapped my face
with all his strength. He then stripped my clothes off me and tied me up with
rope. He spit on my face and used the police baton to beat me until my mouth was
swollen and my face was disfigured. Throughout the ordeal I looked at the
situation calmly. I remembered W. The police had once used the electric baton on his face until
it was covered with wounds, yet he still smiled calmly. I was not able to be as
brave as he, and I yelled out because of the excruciating pain. The labor camp
staff extended my sentence, and I was under strict control for six months. After
the incident, I thought that I would take it easy and I did not want to step
forward again. When I told this to W one day, he looked at me, smiled and said,
"Study the Fa more." When the labor camp staff posted propaganda pictures slandering Dafa, W again
stepped forward. When I saw him the next day during mealtime, his eyes were
black and blue, but he still carried his serene smile. His sentence was extended
once again. I was in tears to think that he could have been released soon and
thought to myself, "What a heavy price he has been paying." I became one of the practitioners who stood up to resist the evil
persecution. I know it is because my behavior conformed to the Fa and that is
why it is so powerful. That is also why I found myself on the correct path. July 18, 2005
