After Suffering Interrogation and Torture, Cai Fuchen and Others Have Been Sentenced to Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) The Court of Yanji City, Jilin Province recently sentenced Cai Fuchen and many other Falun Gong practitioners who had been unlawfully detained for 15 months to long terms in prison. Cai Fuchen was sentenced to 10 years, Liu Chunli to 7, Zhang Hui to 7, and Chen Guangwu to 3. The sentence terms for Xu Yongzhe, Gao Yan, and Li Xiaomei were indefinite.

On May 26, 2005, Cai Yuchen and five other practitioners were apprehended from a truth-clarification material site. Authorities confiscated more than 100,000 yuan in cash and equipment, and even seized all of their daily necessities. The six practitioners were then detained at the Yanji City detention center for 15 months. During their detention, police brutally tortured them numerous times in order to force them to make confessions. On the evening of his arrest, Cai Fuchen was beaten and severely wounded. He could not walk after the beating. The other five were all wounded to various degrees.

In October 2004, Cai Fuchen was tortured to the verge of death. At that time, Mr. Fuchen's father had paralysis in his legs and was ill. When he heard about his son's detention, he and relatives appealed to the Yanbian County government office. He asked the local government to unconditionally release his dying son. However, his request was rejected without any reason given. Soon after, Mr. Fuchen's father died from the grief and mental stress caused by the persecution of his son.

These Falun Gong practitioners were then illegally sentenced to long prison terms and were immediately transferred to Tiebei Prison in Changchun City.
