By a Dafa practitioner in Daqing City

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Bu Fanwei, currently detained in Daqing Prison, has lost his basic abilities to sustain life and is at the brink of death. He is on life support with sodium and potassium injections. His family asked to have him released on bail for medical treatment but the request was denied. Deputy Prison Director Jiang Shuchen said, "His death is inevitable, even if he is bailed out."

We urgently appeal to international organizations and all people of conscience and with a sense of justice to pay attentions to the plight of the Falun Gong practitioners detained in Daqing Prison! They are deprived of freedom and are subjected to terrible living conditions. They do not have basic human rights and their very survival is not guaranteed. They may die at any moment due to the persecution or be injured or become disabled as a result of abuse and torture. In a short three-month period, three practitioners have died because of the persecution.

Mr. Bu Fanwei, 27 years old, is from Gannan County, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. Because of his belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" he was sentenced to eight years in prison. Since the end of 2000, Bu Fanwei has been transferred to over ten detention centers, forced labor camps or prisons. He suffered torture again and again, whenever he was transferred to a new place. His body is often covered in injuries.

In February 2001, in Beijing Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp, police officers shocked Bu Fanwei with five electric batons simultaneously, blistering his whole body, and his face was burned black. In June he was incarcerated at Dongcheng Detention Center in Beijing. Bu Fanwei started a hunger strike to protest the maltreatment at the hands of the police. The lawless authorities inserted an electric needle into his body to shock him, calling such a brutal torture a so-called "appetizer." Later, they force-fed him 250 grams of salt through a feeding tube.

In October 2001, Bu Fanwei was detained in Harbin Prison, which is indeed a demon's den. Under direct instructions from the prison police, the criminal inmates first tormented him mentally by depriving him of sleep for 24 hours. Then they would beat and kick him every day and torture him physically. In the winter of 2002, the temperature in Harbin City was as low as -30 to -40 ⁰C (between -22 and -40 ⁰F). Bu Fanwei, wearing only thin clothes, was thrown into a pool of cold water and then pulled out to suffer in the freezing cold. Bu Fanwei froze and his whole body turned dark purple from the cold. However, those evil ruffians, wearing thick, warm cotton jackets, continued to dump cold water on him. For a period of time, Bu Fanwei was thrown into the pool almost every day.

In September 2003, the prison police sharpened bamboo chopsticks. They inserted a sharpened chopstick under one of Bu's nails and forced up the whole nail. There are many other inhuman tortures in Harbin Prison, such as bending the fingers or wrist, flicking practitioners' eyeballs, covering their head with a plastic bag, soaking a practitioner's head in a pool of water and other atrocities.

In July 2004, Bu Fanwei was transferred to the No. 4 Prison Ward at Daqing Prison. Because he had suffered long term torture, he had become very thin and lost his basic ability to take care of himself. He could only lie in bed and survived with sodium and potassium injections. His life is in danger and he could die at any moment. Even so, the perpetrators in Daqing Prison didn't give up torturing Bu Fanwei. They would force-feed him once every three days through a feeding tube, brutally inserting and pulling the tube out repeatedly without any concern. After each force-feeding, Mr. Bu's nose would ooze blood and he even coughed blood.

When Bu Fanwei's family saw him lying in bed and dying, they strongly asked to have him released on bail for medical treatment. However, the Daqing Prison authorities firmly refused their request. The Deputy Prison Director Jiang Shuchen and the head of the No. 4 Ward, Cheng Junchang told his family, "His death is inevitable, even if he is bailed out. There is nothing we can do."

Daqing Prison is the "Civilized Model of the State Department." It has murdered three practitioners in the recent three months. On June 7, 2005, Xu Jishan was tortured to death within four hours. On July 23, 2005 Yuan Qingjiang died in the prison after suffering long term tortures. Wang Hongde was in severe condition and his family started the bailout procedure on January 24, 2005; however, Deputy Director Wang Yingjie delayed the process again and again, until it was too late for him to have any medical treatment. On May 14, 2005, just 15 days after Wang Hongde was finally released on bail, he passed away. Daqing Prison regards life as worthless and handles life and death decisions at will. Once a death occurs, they will try to cover up the crime and deceive both the higher authorities and subordinates.
