(Clearwisdom.net) It has been two and one half years since Charles Li (Li Xiangchun) was arrested on January 22, 2003 in Guangzhou. I want to share with you my efforts to rescue US citizen Charles Li and his current situation.

I believe that Dafa practitioners will be able to eliminate the evil elements persecuting Dafa practitioners as well as Charles Li and speed up his release and subsequent return to the US when Dafa practitioners as a whole, raise their understanding of the Fa, keep righteous thoughts, and continue to expose the evil with righteous thoughts. I would like to suggest to everyone that when we send forth righteous thoughts, we include the thought of eradiating all evil elements persecuting Charles Li.

I believe that the righteous thoughts of Dafa practitioners have a very powerful effect. Rescuing Charles Li is a test for every Dafa practitioner in the US. We need to treat it with righteous thoughts under all circumstances. The fact that the CCP is playing dirty tricks doesn't really matter, nor does the US government's reaction. We shouldn't be discouraged. We need to expose the evil unceasingly, while holding the thought of rescuing him.

In addition, we shouldn't hold unrighteous ideas or thoughts such as, "I am incapable of doing such a thing" or "I am too busy." We can all send forth righteous thoughts because we all want to rescue him. If you say "no," we'll lose the support of one more righteous field. As long as Charles Li has not been released and hasn't returned to the US, we'll continue exposing the evilness of the CCP.

The CCP has been using a number of methods to force Charles Li to renounce Falun Gong. Since January or February of this year, when his heart problem developed, they have subjected him to brainwashing for three hours daily.

The CCP is currently putting pressure on the US Consulate. They informed the consulate officials that they could no longer convey any messages about Falun Gong to him. Otherwise, they'll severe all contacts between the consulate and Charles Li, including visitation from his family. We need to expose the contemptible methods used by the evil CCP on every possibly occasion, constantly, and to the greatest extent possible.

We need to let the US officials, the US citizens and the entire world know how vicious the CCP is, that they are a terrorist group, and they do not hold dear human life. If we compromise with the evil regime, the CCP will force us to compromise even more in the future.

We need to ask the US Congress to demand that the CCP stop its persecution of US citizen Charles Li, and that the US Consulate continue to deliver Falun Gong messages to him.

Charles Li practices Falun Gong, and believes in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Falun Gong is his belief and his spiritual life. But now the CCP is depriving him of his only means of obtaining Falun Gong messages. This is the deliberate means of the CCP in attempt to destroy his spiritual support, and to force him to give up his belief. It is another form of murder.

The CCP is committing crimes against humanity and genocide. Charles Li risked his life in an attempt to break the media blockade. It was a righteous action for saving Chinese people.

On July 22 this year during a congressional hearing, Christopher Smith, Chairman of the House of Representatives' subcommittee on Africa, Global Human Rights and International Operations, inquired of State Department officials into US citizen Charles Li's imprisonment in China, and expressed the importance of rescuing him. In addition, during the hearing, US congressmen also recognized that the CCP's human rights violations have not only endangered the rights and dignity of Chinese people, but also the freedom of belief of American citizens.

Chen Yonglin, a former Chinese diplomat, told the House of Representatives that there were more than 1,000 spies and informants in Australia and that the number in the U.S. should even be higher. Chen Yonglin said that the persecution of Falun Gong was widely spread in China by the CCP and its means were exceedingly cruel.

Charles Li's life is in grave danger in the hands of the CCP. Twice he has been tortured almost to death. He was once forced-fed during a hunger strike to protest his persecution. They forced-fed him by inserting a tube into his nose, then down his throat into his stomach, which was extremely painful. Such brutal force-feeding methods could cause choking and are life-threatening. In China, about 10 percent of Falun Gong practitioners who were tortured to death died because of forced-feeding. Another torture method perpetrated on Charles was to make him sit straight for four to seven hours, and watch brainwashing TV programs. He was forbidden to move during that time. The torture lasted for more than forty days. These kinds of mental and physical tortures are extremely painful and often cause accelerated heart beat and shortness of breath.

Now that US congressmen have inquired about Charles Li's situation, it is time for us to come together as one body and rescue Charles Li.

Charles Li also mentioned his purpose and request:

1) To let more people learn about and pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong.
2) To stop this persecution as soon as possible.
3) To investigate and affix responsibility of the persecutors under the law.
4) To immediately withdraw his illegal conviction and unconditionally release him.

On May 27, Charles Li wrote the following article while in prison:

"For selfishness and for oneself, the earthling is far from the Tao, day-in and day-out. Abandoning righteousness and losing virtue, the human disaster and epidemic malady spreads.

During the Dharma-ending period and these troubled times, Teacher teaches Dafa, although fraught by difficulties, and saves sentient beings from extreme misery. Our generation is very fortunate. Countless people are learning Dafa. To assimilate into Dafa, many wish to be diligent and genuinely practice Dafa -- to avoid bewilderment and return to their true selves. The Buddha light illuminates all things.

The wicked and foolish person is narrow-minded, just like the frog at the bottom of a well. Anger and jealousy result in emotional responses! Madness comes into the open to the greatest extent. Power intimidates. Dependency causes succumbing. Persecuting Dafa causes one to completely lose conscience. Fabricating rumors and bringing false charges, imprisonment and murder, using every method to the extreme. Chaotic -- life is covered with dirt, shocking -- the earthling is deceived.

I lament about the misfortune of my native land. The ghost indulges in willful persecution. I grieve over my fellow men being lost in the maze. It is difficult to distinguish between evil and good.

Nevertheless, no one is able to block the Fa-rectification process. Dafa disciples stand erect in the universe. They abandon "punishing the evil with evilness," which is pursued by others, just as a pair of ragged shoes [is a treasure]. Cultivators scrupulously abide by the principle "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," and clear away all that is negative in the old cosmos. Cultivators rack their brains to succeed -- attaining abundant merit while assisting Teacher's Fa-rectification and enduring humiliation to offer salvation to all living beings. Especially the thousands who sacrificed their lives for it. Alas, the evil and foolish people can't tolerate the brave and righteous ones.

I have the honor to be a Dafa disciple and the responsibility to eliminate the evil, letting go of thoughts of life and death in order to awaken people's conscience. If people can learn to distinguish real and fake and tell good from bad, then they will not disappoint, and achieve expectations. When the Fa rectifies the human world, and heaven and earth celebrate together - then I have reached my hearts desire."

When we form one body and our thoughts and actions are very righteous, the day Charles Li returns will come soon.
