Gong Piqi and Wife Sun Dongxia Arrested and Home Ransacked in Qingdao City, Shandong Province (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioners Mr. Gong Piqi and his wife Sun Dongxia
were arrested illegally two months ago. Ms. Sun Dongxia, who may have been
sentenced to a ten-year prison term, is currently in the detention center and
suffering from maltreatment. Mr. Gong Piqi is currently detained in the
brainwashing class and has become so weak that he is unable to walk without help
from others. More details of their case follow: On May 13, 2005, the police broke into Gong Piqi and Sun Dongxia's home,
which is located in the North District of Qingdao City. They arrested the couple
and confiscated a printer along with other items. It is said that Sun Dongxia
has been sentenced to ten years in prison. She started a hunger strike to
protest the persecution during her detention and endured torture from other
inmates. She was so weak and thin that the police did not allow her family
members to visit her. Mr. Gong Piqi is a serviceman with the rank of colonel. At first he was
detained in the Artillery Division in the Garrison District of Qingdao City.
When family members went to the Artillery Division to inquire about him, the
head of this unit gave all kinds of excuses and refused to inform them of Gong
Piqi's whereabouts. They deceived the family and said he was well. When the
arrest of the couple was published on the Minghui website (the Chinese version
of Clearwisdom), they transferred Mr. Gong to the brainwashing class located at
No.34 Mingxia Road, Qingdao City. Immediately after the police arrested Mr. Gong and Ms. Sun, they hid in the
couple's home and arrested the people who visited them. It was said that at
least four people were arrested when they visited the couple's home. Two of them
were released after one was detained 12 hours and the other 24 hours. On June 30, 2005 the couple's daughter, a college student, came home for
summer vacation from another city and found their home in a mess (see pictures).
Cigarette butts and half-empty boxes and drawers lay strewn about the place. The
neighbors mentioned that several days after the couple was arrested, they saw
bedcovers laid out to dry in the sun on the balcony. When someone tried to call
the couple's home, the line was busy. When the phone was not busy, no one
answered. The police have been occupying their home. At present, it is not known
whether anything is missing from their home. (Photo's taken at Sun Dongxia's home) Ms. Sun Dongxia's father has been to Rehelu Police Station
twice to ask for the house key that was taken away illegally,
but he failed to get it back. According to the Rehelu Police
Station officers, it was the police from the North District
Branch of the Qingdao Police Department who were involved in the
arrest and search, and they had taken the house key. On July 20, 2005, Ms. Sun's daughter and mother went to the
brainwashing class at No. 34. Mingxia Road, Qingdao City. Sun
Tongtai and Sun Guimin, in charge of the brainwashing class,
were afraid to tell their true names and claimed that their
family name was Wang. They admitted that Mr. Gong Piqi was
detained in the brainwashing class. In the afternoon, the
daughter and her grandmother came to the brainwashing class with
an official letter and were finally allowed to see Mr. Gong. In
just two months, Gong Piqi had suffered so much that he looked
like an old man. His hair and beard had turned gray. He was very
weak. He kept shaking and was unable to stand or speak. He was
able to walk only with help. When he was first sent to the
brainwashing class, his blood pressure was a high of 195 and his
pulse was 120. However, the brainwashing class officials did not
tell him about his health situation and forced him to listen to
the evil propaganda. Mr. Gong told his daughter, "If
something happens to me, it's because they persecuted me."
Seeing his situation, his family members were very indignant.
However, Sun Tongtai pointed at Mr. Gong and shouted abuse. He
blamed Mr. Gong Piqi, saying that it was he who had brought the
trouble on himself. The daughter and the grandmother made a
request to the 610 Office to release Mr. Gong. Sun
Tongtai, Sun Guimin and another man around 30 years old dragged
the family apart and left the two women outside the door. Ms. Sun Dongxia's daughter currently lives
with her grandmother and grandfather, Ms. Sun's parents. Her
