How the Authorities Persecuted Practitioner Mr. Liu Boyang from Changchun City
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Liu Boyang is a medical doctor
at the Qianwei Hospital in Jilin Province. Mr. Liu and his parents started to
practice Falun Dafa in 1995. After July 20, 1999, when Jiang's regime launched the
campaign to eradicate Falun Gong, the police at the Zhengyang Community police
station, Luyuan District, and the authorities at the Zhengyang Community office,
harassed Mr. Liu's family many times. Because she went to Beijing to appeal for
justice for Falun Dafa, his mother was detained and sent to a forced labor camp
both in October of 1999 and again in February of 2000. In addition, the
authorities arrested Mr. Liu's father at the beginning of 2001, put him in the
Xinglongshan brainwashing center and persecuted him. In February of 2002, the police from the Zhengyang Community,
Luyuan District, frequently broke into Mr. Liu's home and harassed him. During
this period, his grandmother happened to be ill and stayed at his home so that
he could care for her. Because the police frequently came by to intimidate him,
she became frightened and her health quickly deteriorated. Mr. Liu was forced to
send his grandmother to stay with other relatives. After the March 5 incident in 2002, when practitioners tapped
into the cable TV transmission in Changchun with truth-clarification
programs, Chen Fengshan, the director of the Zhengyang Police Station of the
Luyuan District, ordered the arrest of every single Falun Dafa practitioner on
record. The police in Changchun City arrested over 5,000 practitioners. In
particular, the 610 Office and the officers at Zhengyang police
station constantly came to Mr. Liu's home to arrest his family. To avoid further
persecution, the whole family was forced into exile. On March 9, 2002, without going through any legal processes
or having any legal documents, the police officers from the Zhengyang police
station and from the detective brigade of the Luyuan District unlocked Mr. Liu's
home with a master key and searched it. Then they dispatched a couple of
officers to stay in a room on the ground floor, waiting for the family to
return. To find out their whereabouts, a few officers from the fourth group of
the detective brigade went to Mr. Liu's workplace on March 16 and arrested him.
Failing to catch his parents, the officers took Mr. Liu to the local police
station and locked him up there. At the Zhengyang police station, the police locked up many
Falun Dafa practitioners in an iron cage. They packed eight practitioners in a
tiny cage, including one in his sixties or seventies. With so many people packed
in such a tiny cage, there was no room for anyone to sit so the practitioners
had to stand overnight, while Officer Wang played a recorded tape that slandered
the founder of Falun Dafa. The next day, the police sent Mr. Liu to the Daguang
Detention Center where they detained him for fifteen days for "disrupting
the social order." When Liu questioned what social order he had disrupted,
the officers were unable to answer. On April 1, when Mr. Liu's fifteen days of detention had
passed, the police took him back to his workplace. He had walked just a few
steps towards the entrance gate when seven or so people rushed to him, covered
his head, and tossed him into a car. Trying hard to get away, he questioned who
they were and why they arrested him. Claiming they were officers from Changchun
Police Department, they took him to a secret location and tied him to a chair
for two whole days. It turned out that they were spies from the National
Security Bureau. They found out Mr. Liu's cell phone number from the call logs
of another practitioner who called him right before he was arrested himself. On June 27, 2002, the officers from the Political Protection
Section of the Luyuan District finally managed to arrest the three members of
Mr. Liu's family, including Mr. Liu himself. They confiscated 5,000 yuan
in cash and two cell phones that Mr. Liu's family members had. Zhu Zhishan,
Chief of the Political Protection Section, who persecuted practitioner Zhi
Guixiang to death, instructed officer Yuan Dachuan to extort a confession out of
Mr. Liu. Yuan is a frontrunner officer who has arrested hundreds of Falun Dafa
practitioners and was awarded many times for his notorious efforts in
persecuting Falun Dafa practitioners. Together with other officers, Yuan tried
very hard to achieve the goal of extorting a confession. They tortured Liu with
various means, including beating, kicking, slapping his face with leather shoes,
tying in ropes, and the "Big Hang Up," a particularly painful method
of wrapping up Liu's arms behind his back, handcuffing him, and then hanging him
up and swinging him or pulling his legs down. After a few minutes of such cruel
torture, Mr. Liu's arms felt as if they were being torn apart and he sweated
profusely. After the torture, Mr. Liu's hands were numb and he had a lot of
difficulty holding anything. It took him a few months to recover. While
torturing Mr. Liu, officer Yuan shouted, "I've killed a few Falun Gong
(practitioners) already. I don't have to take any responsibility if I kill any
more of you!" Also Zhu Zhishan burned a portrait of the Falun Gong founder
in front of Mr. Liu. Four days later, they took Mr. Liu to the Tiebei Detention
Center of Changchun City for further imprisonment. It was summer, but the cells
in the detention center were packed with people. Each person had only two dozen
centimeters (less than one foot) to stand. Even if they slept on their sides,
they still had to lie on top of one another. If anyone went to the toilet, he
would have no room to sleep when coming back. As a result, Mr. Liu developed
scabies on his body. He itched very severely, so he was unable to sleep at all.
Altogether, the authorities imprisoned Mr. Liu in the detention center for four
full months. When he asked them why they imprisoned him for such an extended
period of time, the officers answered, "Falun Gong is a special incident
and therefore must be handled specially." On October 29, 2002, the authorities took Mr. Liu to the
Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp of Changchun City to imprison him for another two
years. Also imprisoned in the labor camp were hundreds of Falun Dafa
practitioners from Changchun, Siping, Liaoyuan, Baishang, Tonghua, and other
regions. The authorities in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp committed too many
incidents of torture to count them all. After the March 5, 2002, incident, Wang
Yanwei and Wang Jiangang, the directors of the forced labor camp, launched a so
called "storming of fortified positions" in order to accomplish the
order of "converting Falun Gong practitioners." To convert the
practitioners who upheld their belief in Falun Gong, they used various means of
cruel torture. Called by the inmates the "Iron Wolf Brigade," the
second brigade was the most vicious in the labor camp. Yang Guang, the head of
the brigade, hung an iron axe in his office to further his brutal image.
Although he rarely tortured practitioners in person, he instructed the officers
in his brigade to do so. Among the officers under Yang Guang, officer Zhu Shenglin was
the worst. He always directly tortured practitioners. In addition, he wrote a
song to slander Falun Dafa and forced everyone to sing it. After he broke
practitioner Mr. Sun Xianming's arms, Zhu Shenglin stopped Mr. Sun from visiting
a doctor. As a result, his arms became permanently paralyzed and he was unable
to live without assistance. Despite practitioner Sun's situation, the prison
officers in the forced labor camp did not allow anyone to help him. Every
evening, practitioner Sun, without any help from others, was forced to use his
teeth to carry his clothing to his bed. Later when practitioner Sun was
critically ill, the authorities at the labor camp, afraid that he would die in
the camp, reluctantly sent him home. Not to spare him verbally after he left the
labor camp, officer Zhu Shenglin fabricated the rumor that practitioner Mr. Sun
was sent back home because he signed a Conversion Statement. On another occasion, after practitioner Mr. Shao Weixin
regained consciousness after being tortured, officer Zhu Shenglin continued to
beat him fiercely right in front of hundreds of other people. As a result of the
brutal persecution, Mr. Shao later collapsed mentally. Still the prison police
claimed that he was just pretending. Even after officer Zhu was moved to the
cafeteria, he continued persecuting practitioners. When he saw practitioners
holding hunger strikes, he bullied them. Mr. Zheng Jinchun was another practitioner who was persecuted
in the labor camp. To prevent him from sleeping, the prison officers ripped off
his bed clothes, opened the window, and poured ice-cold water on him. In December of 2002, the winter season of northeastern China,
the authorities in the forced labor camp forced Mr. Liu Boyang to sit on the
ice-cold concrete floor all day long. They prevented him from sleeping at night
and forced him to receive their brainwashing propaganda that vilified Falun Dafa
during the day. Among the officers actively involved in persecuting Falun
Dafa practitioners were Liu Xiaoyu, Zhao Dongli, and Sun Haibo. They used
electric batons, triangle belts, and handcuffs to beat many practitioners in the
Second Brigade. All practitioners were forced to do heavy-duty labor every
day. The work in the Second Brigade was related to a printing business.
Practitioners were forced to work until eleven at night or later. When somebody
visited the camp, the authorities there hid the tools and denied that they made
any of the prisoners work. In June of 2003, practitioners were forced to plow land for
two weeks. To remove the weeds, they had to crawl on the ground. With their
wrists swollen and hands covered with blood, some practitioners who were very
weak because of extended torture collapsed while at the farm. They had to be
piggybacked back to the prison. To those who refused to cooperate, the police showed no
mercy. In April of 2004, officer Sun Haibo beat practitioner Mr. Wang Jinbo for
a few hours using an electric baton simply because he refused to work. Because
of the extended brutal beatings, officer Sun broke his baton. Having learned of
the cruel torture, Mr. Wang's family filed a complaint to the authorities. In
response, the labor camp authorities quickly called in a few inmates to serve as
their "witnesses" and denied the allegation. Furthermore they moved
Mr. Wang to another brigade to cover up what they did. In June of 2004, when practitioner Mr. Liu's prison term was
up, the authorities refused to release him. On the contrary, they extended his
term for another forty-seven days. On August 17, 2004, the authorities from Mr. Liu's local
residence, the officers from the 610 Office, and two officers from Zhengyang
police station, took Mr. Liu to the police station and demanded that he sign a
Guarantee Statement, which Mr. Liu refused to do. The authorities
tried to take him back to the Xinglong brainwashing center for further
persecution. In doing so, they extorted 700 Yuan from his family. Mr. Liu was
able to escape with his righteous thoughts and avoid further persecution for the
time being. Presently the authorities at the Zhengyang Community Office
are planning to further persecute Mr. Liu, while the authorities at the Qianwei
Hospital of Jilin Province, Mr. Liu's former workplace, have decided not to
allow him to return to work.
