Mother and Son Learn Falun Gong after Desperate Struggle

(Clearwisdom.net) In 2004, I suffered from a lower back injury that kept me bedridden for a long time, and I could not work. My mother, who is in her 70s, was in an even worse condition. She had pulmonary heart disease and gastritis, among other health problems. She had to take all kinds of medicines for many years. My mother and I live together. The weather in the north of China is very cold in the winter. We had to fetch water from a well and this simple task became very hard for us. Poverty and poor health pushed us towards despair. My only elder sister was very sad when she saw her younger brother and mother in such misery. She said to me, "You are so young, you must see a doctor." At that time we did not have any money. After a painful mental struggle with myself, I went out to borrow money from several people and finally went to a hospital. The doctors said that I had a disk protrusion along with spinal canal stenosis and hyperosteogeny. They also told me that my problem was serious, and that if I delayed treatment, I would need surgery. They said that my symptoms would stay with me for the rest of my life, and even surgery was not a complete cure.

After that I went out to seek all kinds of treatments: Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western medicine, acupuncture, massage therapy, worship of spirits, and fortune telling advice, etc. Every day my mother knelt down to kowtow to all kinds of spirits and deities. With time passing by, all the efforts proved fruitless.

On New Year's Day 2005, while other families were happily celebrating, mother and I were suffering in extreme pain. I felt hopelessness.

In the spring, people began to work in the fields. Our neighbors saw our situation and felt quite sympathetic. Someone gave us some Falun Gong truth-clarification materials and a small Falun Dafa card. At that time, my mind was deeply polluted by the communist propaganda after watching the lies on CCTV. I didn't even look at the materials. I only accepted the materials because I didn't want to appear rude to my neighbor. Several days later, a Falun Gong practitioner came to visit us. She told me how she benefited from practicing Falun Gong. Her story touched me, so I began to read the Faun Gong materials that my neighbor had given me. I also silently recited, "Falun Dafa is Great" and "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance." In less than ten days, a miracle happened. My lower back pain vanished and my body felt completely energized.

Such a wonderful cultivation practice! I rushed to this practitioner's home and told them my story. All the family members practice Falun Gong and they were all very happy for me. On that day, I became a Falun Gong practitioner.

At the beginning, I was so eager to study the Fa that I forgot about my mother. But she saw my change. She went to the practitioner's home and asked, "Can I be a Falun Gong practitioner too?" "Of course," the practitioner said. Mother said, "I have nothing. Can I still be one?" "No problem." said the practitioner. My mother was so happy. She then kept telling people, "The Teacher of Falun Gong is such a wonderful person. I was poor, sick and old, and I cannot read. But he still accepted me as a practitioner. Where could one find such a good Teacher?" She was in tears when she said those words. Mother and I found such a wonderful practice when we were in despair. We are truly fortunate.

After listening to Teacher's lectures several times, mother began to clean up our home environment. In the past, mother practiced all kinds of qigong, and she also worshiped all kinds of spirits. She has now cleared them all out.

My mother learned how to send forth righteous thoughts and is very serious about it. Every day at the designated time, she reads out the word "Mie" (extinction, eliminate) with a strong power. Mother is illiterate, but she loves Zhuan Falun very much. She often holds the book in her arms. She says, "This book is my dearest treasure."

One night my mother felt sleepy, but she also worried that she might miss sending forth righteous thoughts at midnight. She had a mental struggle. Although she said that she should not go to sleep, she fell asleep anyway. Suddenly, a sound woke her up. She immediately checked the time, and it was 11:50 p.m. Mother was very happy, and she put her palms together and walked barefooted in the room and shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" After five minutes, she sat down to send forth righteous thoughts. During this time, our house was filled with red illuminating light.

The neighbors saw our change. In less than two months, we looked completely different. In the past, mother could not even walk a few steps outside of our home without feeling tired. Now she can walk fast with her back straight, and even younger people cannot catch up with her. She tells everyone about Falun Gong's amazing power. She also reminds me to behave according to the standard of a practitioner. She says, "Teacher cured you so you can stand up now. Your health is for promoting Dafa, not for making money and taking care of your mother." I remember her words in my heart.

Inspired by our change, several neighbors, my mother's sister, father's sister, and father's sister-in-law all began practicing Falun Gong. Now our Fa-study group has more and more people. Every day we study the Fa, practice the exercises, and clarify the truth. It is very harmonious. The special feeling is beyond language.

We will never forget this amazing gift from our Teacher. We will give our best efforts to do the three things well. We deeply realize that the purpose of our lives is for validating Dafa. We Falun Gong practitioners are the most fortunate people in the world. The enormous favor bestowed by Teacher cannot be described by words of any language.
