AAP (Australian Association Press) Reports on Falun Gong's Appeal in New York (Photo)
(Clearwisdom.net) During Hu Jintao's participation in the UN
conference, about 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners across the world gathered in
New York and held a peaceful appeal to call for an end to the persecution of
Falun Gong. AAP reported on September 15, "The gathering of world leaders for the
United Nations Summit this week proved an irresistible stage for thousands of
protesters crowding a New York City plaza to draw attention to their
causes." The report stated, "Hundreds of Falun Gong supporters, who have camped
out seemingly everywhere in Manhattan for the past year, gathered to protest
China's oppression against them. China banned the spiritual Falun Gong movement
in 1999." In addition, the report stated, "On Thursday thousands of protesters in
blue shirts rallied against China's Communist Party, waving signs and shouting
amid thundering drums. They want the party dismantled."
