How My Five-Year-Old Son Learned Falun Dafa

(Clearwisdom.net) My son is less than five years old now and he is already a young disciple of Falun Dafa.

In the past, I had mistakenly thought that since my son was a child, if I told him about Falun Dafa, he might talk without thinking and cause troubles. But last November I changed my view. One day my son was ill and could not fall asleep. I rushed to get up and gave him some medicine, but it had no effect. At that time, I suddenly remembered one sentence of Master Li's in Zhuan Falun,

I took out Zhuan Falun right away and said to my son, "Let Mom read a Dafa book to you. You should listen to it and Master Li will take care of you!" My son nodded and I read Lunyu to him. Slowly, my son's throat stopped feeling swollen and gradually he fell asleep until the next morning.

The same thing happened the second night, and again I read Lunyu to my son, which was very effective. Afterwards, I realized that I could not treat my son as an everyday person any longer, and that I should help him study the Fa, because Master Li was now taking care of him. I now often read Lunyu and the poems in Hong Yin with my son, and he has been very attentive. He can even recite some sentences and poems and I really feel happy for him.

Little by little I have told him the Falun Dafa truths. Sometimes he did not understand, and he asked me why, so I answered his questions one by one. He especially likes to watch Dafa truth-clarifying VCDs, and sometimes he even faces the screen and learns from the narrator how to clarify the truth. I feel happy for him and encourage him to behave following the standards of Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance). I also tell him that people have come to the human world not to be human but to return to our original true selves, which he understood. I often play Master Li's Fa-lecture videos for my son, and he listens carefully and sometimes asks me questions. Sometimes my son even discusses with me about what Master Li said in the Fa lecture. Sometimes when I make mistakes, my son points them out to me, which really surprises me as I didn't expect him to remember Master Li's Dafa so closely. At these times, I have felt very ashamed and have had to look within myself to try to calmly clarify the truth to him. I also apologize to him and say, "Mother will improve in the future" and "Thank you for reminding me." Then he sensibly nods his head and also speaks about his own shortcomings. I feel really lucky to have this young fellow practitioner with me.

One day an everyday person asked my son, "What do you want to become when you grow up? A scientist?" He said, "No, I don't want to be a scientist. I want to become a Buddha." We didn't expect him to answer this way. Sometimes he likes to play all the time and from time to time he makes some mistakes, but he has been longing to become a Buddha. Afterwards I told him, "If you want to become a Buddha, you have to cultivate yourself, improve your mind-nature and remove human attachments and desires. You also need to endure hardships and have forbearance, and you can't be too fragile." Sometimes he falls down and looks like he is in pain, but I ask him, "Are you a young Dafa disciple? Can you not endure such small hardships? Let it be and you will be able to get through it if you can endure it." Then he seems to change into another person and doesn't attach too much attention to it anymore.

Now my son is very smart and his teacher often praises him. He enjoys studying and doesn't need us to urge him to study. Sometimes he is quite creative in drawing pictures. He often asks me to teach him Master Li's poems and read Master Li's Fa lectures to him. Sometimes as soon as he wakes up, he sends forth righteous thoughts or practices the fifth exercise. Though he cannot sit for long, he never forgets he is a young Dafa disciple. He often says to me, "Mom, let's tell other people that Falun Dafa is good and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, so that they all can be saved." I am often deeply moved by his words and sometimes feel deeply shocked by his pure and compassionate heart. My dear son, in order to save more sentient beings, your mother will work more diligently!
