Practitioner Couple Xin Changnian and Chen Jing Died Due to Persecution, Their Son was Given a Heavy Sentence

(Clearwisdom.net) Two Falun Dafa practitioners from Changchun City, Jilin Province, Mr. Xin Changnian and his wife, Ms. Chen Jing, died on June 5, 2004, and July 8, 2005, respectively from relentless persecution. In 2002, their son, Mr. Xin Wei, was sentenced to nine years in prison. He has suffered severe mental and physical torture in Jilin Prison.

Mr. Xin Changnian, 75 year old, and his wife Ms. Chen Jing, 68 year old, lived near the Second Avenue Christian Church in Changchun. They started to practice Falun Gong in 1996. Before learning Falun Gong, Mr. Xin suffered from facial spasms, gastroptosis, and other ailments. Ms. Chen suffered from "Behçet's Syndrome," with lip cankers and other inflammations, and protrusion of the lumbar intervertebral discs. After they started practicing Falun Dafa, both of them became healthy again.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to suppress Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Xin's son, Mr. Xin Wei went to Beijing many times to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. The police frequently went to their home to harass them. Xin Wei was arrested many times. Mr. Xin and Ms. Chen were quite distressed. One summer night around 8 p.m., the couple was asleep; they didn't hear the policemen knocking on the door. The police climbed in through their window on the second floor, seriously frightening them.

On the evening of March 11, 2002, Mr. Xin Changnian and Mr. Xin Wei were arrested. Mr. Xin Changnian was released after two weeks of detention. His son Xin Wei was sentenced to the Second Prison of Jilin (also known as Jilin Prison) for nine years. In prison he was brutally tortured both mentally and physically. Not long ago, his eyes were struck during a beating and became bloodshot. In the Second Prison of Jilin, a few of the torture methods that the police use on the firm practitioners are: tying them up with ropes, stretch-torture, beating, forcing practitioners to sit motionless on a hard board, and sleep deprivation. The "stretch-torture" in particular can be very brutal. The tendons can tear after just ten minutes and the victims pass out from the excruciating pain. Practitioners who protest the persecution by going on a hunger strike are force-fed with a highly concentrated saline solution and are not allowed any water, or else they are subjected to the stretching torture.

On November 29, 2003, at around 9 p.m., the police from the Security Branch of the Changchun Police Department took Mr. Xin Changnian's daughter-in-law into custody for a number of days and waited in ambush at his son's house, in an attempt to arrest other Dafa practitioners. They ransacked the son's house once again. After they were finished, only Mr. Xin's grandson, a middle school student, was left at home. He was not allowed to go to school and had no one to take care of him.

After years of relentless persecution, Mr. Xin Changnian died on June 5, 2004, and Ms. Chen Jing died on July 28, 2005.
