CTV Reports on Falun Gong Anti-Torture Exhibition (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On September 3, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners from Toronto, Montreal and Kingston held an anti-torture exhibit in front of Parliament Hill in Ottawa to expose the Chinese Communist regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong and call upon Hu Jintao to end the persecution.

According to the CTV report on September 7, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners are demonstrating using mock-torture displays outside of Parliament Hill to protest persecution of the group in China. Falun Gong protesters would like Prime Minister Paul Martin to address human rights on Friday in his meeting with Chinese President Hu Jintao.

"We hope our Prime Minister can openly and publicly speak to the President of China to urge him to stop the persecution." said Lucy Zhou of the Falun Dafa Association of Canada (FDAC).

The report said that Falun Gong was introduced in 1992 and is based on an ancient form of refining the body and mind through special exercises and meditation. The practice spread quickly throughout China and the world causing the Chinese government to attempt to suppress it.

Protestors claim that the government has tortured and even killed practitioners who practice Falun Gong.

The report stated that Chinese officials have gone so far as to program the search engine Google to shut down if the words "Falun Gong" are typed into the search box in China.

Critics of the Chinese government hope that trade does not triumph over the human rights issues.

Protestors plan to greet Hu when he arrives tomorrow and shadow him on visits to Vancouver and Toronto. Hu will be in Eastern Canada from September 8-11, attend a UN summit in New York, and then return to Western Canada for a two day trip on September 16.
