Detailed Information Regarding Mr. Xu Zhicheng's Death

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Xu Zhicheng, 44, was from Hegang City, Helongjiang Province. He was illegally arrested at his home on September 23, 2005, tortured, and held in the No. 2 Detention Center. He died on October 3, 2005, as the result of torture.

Mr. Xu Zhicheng was an engineer for the Coal Mine Bureau in Hegang City. He started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. When the CCP began the persecution against Falun Gong in 1999, he was demoted to work as a factory worker. On April 20, 2002, he was arrested at his home by the Public Security Bureau Nanshan Subdivision in Hegang City, and sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp.

On September 23, 2005, Mr. Xu Zhicheng was arrested again by the Public Security Bureau Nanshan Subdivision and held in Nanshan Tiexi Police Station. He was tortured for four days and nights without food or water because he persisted in practicing Falun Dafa and he had an electronic Falun Dafa book. On September 26 he was transferred to room four at the No. 2 Detention Center. The police intensified his persecution because he had started a hunger strike. They tied him up on a metal pole and did not release him until he was in critical condition on October 1.

Mr. Xu Zhicheng was on hunger strike from September 26 to October 2. During this time, the detention center force-fed him once a day with up to a bag of salt with corn cereal or soybean powder. They injected this paste through a nasal feeding tube. He vomited blood after they inserted the tube.

On October 2 he was in critical condition twice, at around 8:00 p.m. and again at 10:00 p.m. The inmates reported his condition to Guards He and Song. The on-call doctor came and examined him but stated that there was nothing wrong and left. At midnight, the inmates reported for the third time that Mr. Xu was dying.

After they reported to director Li Shulin in the No. 2 Detention Center, he was furious and started cursing, "Find me the largest shackle and put it on him now!"

After Li Shulin saw Mr. Xu, however, he called the ambulance instead of putting him in shackles. The hospital refused to send an ambulance so they used the van from the detention center to drive Mr. Xu to the hospital at 12:30 a.m. Mr. Xu Zhicheng was pronounced dead on October 3, 2005.
