Faculty and Students at the China Three Gorges University Still Being Deceived
By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Yichang City, Hubei Province, China
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa has been severely persecuted at the China
Three Gorges University during the past few years. The school authorities have
sent faculty and staff members to the provincial brainwashing center, and they
have illegally arrested Falun Gong practitioners who went to the university to
clarify the truth. They also spread lies to poison the students in the
classrooms. There are slanderous video clips on the university website. These
hooligans are also frantically trying to get students to join the Chinese
Communist Party (CCP) and pushing the so-called "Preserving the Advancement
of Communist Party Ideology" campaign. The China Three Gorges University was established in 2000 as a provincial
university. It is categorized as a class II 4-year college. The university has
more than 4,000 faculty, staff members, and nearly 30,000 students from around
the country. The following are some of the details of the persecution that has taken place
at the university. Since March 2005, the university has issued a series of directives regarding
the work required for political propaganda. Some of them are directly related to
the persecution of Falun Dafa. On the afternoon of March 30, 2005 there was a special meeting held on the
fourth floor of the administration building. The participants included teachers
from the "Marxist Theory" and "Moral Character" classes,
student advisors, student organization members, officials from Student Affairs
Offices and University Security. Yuan Hong and Cai Jun openly defamed Falun Gong
in the meeting. In addition, the university also set up 24-hour surveillance on
its Intranet. As a result, no one can access overseas websites from the
university Intranet. Starting in May this year, the university is requiring all students to take a
mandatory class, "Fundamentals of Law." The class requires the
students to write essays with the theme, "Advocate Science, Oppose the Evil
Cult" to slander Falun Dafa. The teacher said that there used to be ten
topics to choose from, but now the Department of Education allows only this one
topic. A videotape of the staged Tiananmen self-immolation incident was played in
the class. The students are being taught that Liu Chunling was burned to death
instead of beaten to death. In order to cover up the scenes showing Wang
Jindong's hair and the bottle between his legs not being damaged, even though he
himself was on fire and his clothes were burned, the images of Wang's hair and
the bottle are blurred. They are continuing to poison the students' minds. In front of the university library, there are many signs promoting the
"Communist Party Member Grassland." Many pictures of Communist Party
leaders are hanging in the hallways of the classroom buildings. There are also
detailed preparation documents for joining the party. Many colleges have set up
classes on the CCP and are pushing students to join the party. There are more
than 2,000 CCP members among the university students, approximately 10% of the
student body, a very high percentage compared to other universities. The university officials are also actively involved in the persecution of
Dafa practitioners. Zhou Qiang, a Chemistry and Life Sciences teacher, is a firm
believer in Falun Dafa and has withdrawn from the CCP. On June 1, 2005, Yichang
police, along with university security personnel, took him to a brainwashing
center. On June 15, a practitioner from Gezhouba named He Jinyan was arrested
and taken to a police station for clarifying the truth at the university. Because there are few people here who know the truth, we are asking overseas
practitioners to help clarify the truth via telephone and mail.
