(Clearwisdom.net) A couple of days ago, I discovered over the Internet
that one of my relatives, a Falun Gong practitioner, had been
"transformed" when he was in prison. He was not clear-minded and made
the wrong chocie. The news shocked me and made me think seriously about what
exactly cultivation is.
Before he was in prison, I had contacted him briefly. I felt (now I think it
was just a bit of personal feeling, but not a clear understanding based on the
Fa) that he believed in the Fa with determination and cultivated well in some
aspects. I would never have believed that he could be "transformed."
This makes me recognize the difficulty and seriousness of cultivation. I began
to calmly think about what cultivation is.
One evening, I suddenly understood that cultivation is the process of
becoming a divine being, of being tempered in the fire. It is the process of a
human being turning into a heavenly being. It is such a supernatural and serious
thing. What kind of attitude should we have toward it?
I also realized that for so many years, my understanding of this issue was
not clear, profound, or serious enough. This is the a fundamental reason why I
was lost in the world and could not be diligent. Cultivation is to step out from
humanity, to rise above the status of a human being, and to achieve the status
of a heavenly being. It is the path to godhood. Actually, Master had already
told us in the Fa, but I did not understand the deep connotations clearly. I
noticed my poor enlightenment. I had studied the Fa for so many years. However,
I did not have a clear understanding of this fundamental issue.
Above is a bit of my understanding. Please point it out if it is not right
due to my limited level.
