Guangzhou City Practitioner Mr. Ma Minqing Arrested and His Wife Sentenced to Forced Labor

(Clearwisdom.net) In the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Ma Minqing and his wife, Ms. Zheng Jie'er, had been forced into homelessness for some time. They were the main targets of persecution that the Public Security Bureau of Yuexiu District had focused on. Ms. Zheng Jie'er was arrested on July 23, 2006, and was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. The same office arrested Mr. Ma Minqing on October 8, 2006.

Back in 2001, the 610 Office from Yuexiu District plotted to arrest Mr. Ma and have him confined to a Brainwashing Center, but he escaped with righteous thoughts. Later on he and his wife were forced to become homeless, and the Guangzhou "610 Office" State Security agents set their sights on arresting them.

At 2 p.m. on July 23, 2006, Ms. Zheng went outside to call her family and did not return. Twenty-four hours later, the Public Security Bureau of the Yuexiu District informed her family that she was in the custody of the Tianpingjia Detention Center, a sub-police station in the Yuexiu District. On July 26, family members went to Tianpingjia Detention Center to ask for her release, but they were denied. Instead, she was sentenced to two years in Guangzhou Chatou Forced Labor Camp.

On the afternoon of October 8, Yuexiu Public Bureau agents arrested Mr. Ma Minqing while he was on his way to do some shopping. The next day his family received a phone call from the police saying that he had been arrested and was being held at a police station. When asked which police station he was in, the answer was: "I don't know."

Aying, Mr. Ma Minqing's mother and also a practitioner, was held at the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp for a year for distributing truth-clarifying materials in 2002. According to informed sources, she disappeared after October 10, 2006. It is thought that she may have been rounded up by State Security Agents. Many practitioners have recently been arrested.
