A Villager Practitioner's Cultivation Experience

(Clearwisdon.net) Fan Ying is a 50-year-old farmer living in the southern suburb of Baoding City, Hebei Province. He is a quiet and introverted person, but if he had to fight with someone, he would fear nothing. If he verbally abused someone, he would continue for three days. His usually obedient wife was often the target of his criticisms.

All of this was before Fan Ying started to practice Falun Gong. He is now a totally different person. About 10 years ago, he was standing in his front yard one afternoon when he suddenly saw a big wheel (the Great Law Wheel) rising from the west side of his house. It landed on the ground in his yard and then disappeared. The next day, a practitioner gave him a copy of Zhuan Falun and taught him the five set of exercises. That was the beginning of his cultivation path.

After the Chinese Communist Party launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Mr. Ying gave in to pressure from different people and stopped practicing Falun Gong. He then began to practice another qigong exercise. As a result, not only did his health not improve but he also started to have heart problems. His condition deteriorated to where he couldn't even take care of himself.

One day he felt he couldn't breathe and his heart beat so rapidly that he had to lie in bed to get more oxygen. A practitioner from a neighboring village came to see him. As soon as this practitioner entered the room, Fang Ying immediately said to him with tears in his eyes, "I've been waiting for you!" It was as if he was seeing a close relative that he hadn't seen in a long time. After this practitioner shared his cultivation experiences with Fan Ying, Mr. Fan returned to the cultivation path and regained his health shortly afterwards.

After he started to practice again, Fan Ying encountered many difficulties and tribulations. For example, he had to overcome tribulations with his family. In the past, he controlled his wife and now it was the opposite; his wife often made trouble for him. In the winter, when he went to bed after finishing the meditation exercise, as soon as he fell asleep, his wife removed his comforter to make him feel cold. When it snowed, he walked in front of his wife, who pushed him to the snow-covered ground. When he was doing the meditation exercise, she poured ice-cold water down his neck. She also whipped his face with a leather belt, making his face bleed. However, he didn't cry out in pain and neither did he fight back. He merely said, "I treated you badly in the past. Now I'm repaying my debt." He was not angry at all. Instead, he thanked his wife. He told fellow practitioners, "My endurance serves multiple purposes in cultivation. Teacher is testing me. The cultivation opportunity is hard to come by."

Once when he came back from Baoding City, as he got ready to get off the main road to enter his village, a motorized tricycle hit him just as he made a turn. He and his bicycle were pushed out over a dozen meters. His bicycle was mangled by the force of the motorized tricycle. More than 30 villagers and his son rushed to the site and detained the tricycle driver. They requested that Fan Ying be sent to the hospital for examination and that the driver pay for the bicycle repair. But Fan Ying pulled himself from the ground and saw that he was not hurt. He explained to the villagers, "It was my fault. I was not careful on my bicycle and hit him. It had nothing to do with him. Let him go." The driver felt very lucky and said, "I met a good person today."

On another day, Fan Ying went to the farmer's market. There were many booths lining the road for two Li (a Chinese unit of length. 1 Li = 1/2 kilometer). He walked all the way from the east end to the west end to hand out truth-clarification materials to each booth owner. When he had almost reached the end, he developed the attachment of zealotry. When he handed out the last brochures to three young people, one of them opened the brochure, put it on the shelf, took out his cellphone, and was about to call the police. Fan Ying then immediately sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil factors. The young man's red face turned pale, and he looked quite awkward. The man turned off his cellphone and apologized to Fan Ying. He also picked up the brochure. Fan Ying told the three young men, "Do not be afraid to make mistakes as long as you correct them once you realize you did something wrong. What I'm doing is helping you choose a good future for yourself. Please don't take it for granted."

Some people asked him, "Aren't you worried the policemen may arrest you?" He smiled and replied, "I'm not afraid of them. I think they are afraid of me. If they come to get me, it will be a good opportunity for me to clarify the truth to them. Otherwise, I won't have a chance to talk to them."
