When he was 12, his mother, Ms. Yang Zhonghong, was arrested and taken to the Zhendongshan Police Station in Lushuihe Town, Baishan City, Jilin Province, because she was reported as a Falun Gong practitioner by Tang Longping. At the station, police officers whipped Sheng Wei with #12 stainless steel wire and tried to force him to say where his mother got her truth-clarification materials. They whipped him until he was covered with wounds, and yet Sheng Wei bit his lips to endure the pain and did not betray any Falun Dafa practitioners.

His mother was illegally sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor. During this time, Sheng Wei's father acted as both father and mother and took care of Sheng Wei and his sister. Sheng Wei also took care of his two-year-old sister. When his father was not at home, he cooked and did the laundry, and behaved like a grown man.

Two long years finally passed, and his mother returned home. His whole family was together again. Who could have known that his mother would be reported again when she was clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to the wife of Xu Jinhu, a police officer in the Lushuihe Town Police Department. On September 19, 2006, his mother was arrested again and taken to Fusong Detention Center.

What is wrong with studying Falun Dafa and being a good person? What is wrong with clarifying the truth so others can be good people? His mother's illness was cured by practicing Falun Dafa, and their lives improved. These are the benefits of studying Falun Dafa. After he thought it over, Sheng Wei decided to go to the police to clarify the truth and ask the police to release his mother. When he arrived at the police department, he did not expect that the officers would be irrational. They cursed him and stomped on him. Sheng Wei's sweater was torn, and his cheeks were swollen from being kicked by the officers. He had thought that he would find a situation where he could defend his mother's innocence. He never thought that policemen would be more brutal than villains. After the brutal beating, four officers grabbed his arms and legs and threw him into a police car. Sheng Wei resisted with all his might, but how could he overcome four policemen? In the police car, they pulled out hunks of his hair. They kept him pushed up against the car door to keep him in control as they drove him home.

The next day, unintimidated by the brutality, Sheng Wei went to the Fusong County Police Department again. This time he stood in the main hall of the police bureau and told people about how the police had brutally beaten him. Finally, the officers shouted, "Stop! We will release your mother on Wednesday."

Sheng Wei and his father fought tirelessly for a month and kept on going to the police department, the people's representatives, the Procuratorate, and the Appeals Office of the County Court to clarify the truth. Evil cannot overwhelm righteousness. Sheng Wei, his mother, and his family were finally united.
