Moving Beyond Erroneous Understandings of Compassion

(Clearwisdom.net) Before the persecution began on July 20, 1999, the people of the world were awakening due to the spread of Falun Dafa, and the number of Dafa practitioners was increasing dramatically. There were practitioners all over the country. Their good behavior, forbearance and compassion displayed for all to see the re-emergence of upright secular moral values and standards. They praised Falun Dafa practitioners for being good people.

Since July 20, 1999, Jiang’s regime has been killing kind Dafa practitioners on a massive scale. One of the absurd, secret reasons for the persecution was that this group of kind people wouldn’t cause instability, clashes or hostility in society, so no matter what methods were used against them there wouldn’t be any negative effects.

Dafa practitioners have been subjected to this bloody persecution for seven years. No matter what vile methods the evil employs, Dafa practitioners have never responded with violence. Though some of the worldly people and persecutors have come to know the truth of the persecution and have chosen to stand up for justice, there are still evil people unscrupulously continuing the persecution. This is to some extent caused by the attachments of practitioners, but a more fundamental reason is that the evil is taking advantage of our misunderstandings of Shan (Compassion). This is a major reason why the evil dares and continues to persecute practitioners to this day, and is also one of the reasons that we’ve been neglecting and even silently accept it.

Teacher told us in His lectures to eliminate dark minions with righteous thoughts, eradicate the evil by sending forth righteous thoughts, and allow the evil to receive karmic retribution in this lifetime. We should be clear that Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is the manifestation of the Fa, and we shouldn’t passively accept and endure the evil. The purpose of punishing the evil is to save sentient beings. Teacher told us we could use our divine powers and supernormal abilities when we’re subjected to severe persecution, so we should display the miraculous power and dignity of the Fa so as to shock, frighten and punish the evil. If the evil persecutes us we should make use of our supernormal abilities to ensure immediate karmic retribution against the evil.

The Clearwisdom website has published many articles regarding Dafa practitioners use of supernormal abilities in prisons to stop the evil and the miracles affecting the environment and the bodies of practitioners when they clarify the truth. I needn’t repeat those stories here. When the evil arrests our practitioners or illegally puts them on trial, sending forth righteous thoughts shouldn’t be the only means used (though it is certainly necessary). We should also display our divine powers and bring about immediate retribution on the perpetrators who directly take part in the persecution so as to warn worldly people. Practitioners who are being persecuted should use their divine powers in this way to bring about karmic retribution and to suppress the evil. All of our practitioners must negate all persecution and let go of any erroneous understandings of "Shan" (Compassion). Barely forbearing the persecution will only result in the continuation of the evil’s rampant persecution, and perpetuate the fear and numbness of the people of the world.

Once we enter the gate of cultivation Teacher gives us many divine powers. We should be clear that the purpose of using our divine powers is to save sentient beings. Using our divine powers is not to show off, but to eliminate every hindrance that prevents sentient beings from obtaining the Fa. The atheist evil perpetrators may then witness instant retribution. This will let them know that good and evil will be returned in kind, and let them see the harm they do to themselves if they commit evil against others in the hope that they will give up their wicked ways, correcting their behavior and beginning a new life.

At the same time we should eliminate the poison of atheism in our own minds. While being persecuted, are we aware that our great Teacher is at our sides protecting us at all times? When persecution occurs shall we consider it through the lens of our human notions or use our divine thoughts and supernormal powers instead? Shall we use human thoughts and ways to counter the evil or use divine powers, and ask Teacher to help us eliminate the evil? The results will be totally different if we use our divine thoughts.

Teacher said,

Let’s remember Teacher’s words, treasure our cultivation environment and our human bodies – the carrier to help Teacher with the Fa-rectification, and treasure the sentient beings around us.
