A Seven-Year-Old Practitioner: Studying the Fa Has Changed Me

My name is Crystal Jin, and I am seven years old. I started to recite Lunyu from memory when I was 4 years old. I didn't know many Chinese characters at that time. On my way to pre-school, Daddy taught me Lunyu sentence by sentence. It took me almost nine months to memorize the whole piece.

When I started memorizing Hong Yin and Hong Yin II, it became easier as I went along. Gradually, I developed the habit of being unable to fall asleep unless my parents read Zhuan Falun for me.

Daddy takes me to school most mornings. Whenever we are in heavy traffic, I ask Daddy to recite the Fa and then the traffic becomes smoother.

Whenever my mom takes me to school, I teach her to recite the Fa. One day, Daddy came to pick me up without Mom. He told me that Mom had been in a car accident. I asked Daddy, "Is Mom dead?" and Daddy said, "Guess." I said, "I think she must still be alive since I taught her to recite 'Heaven's Gate Opened' this morning and she was able to do it."

I first started reading Zhuan Falun when I was in Minghui School. I started to read Zhuan Falun by myself, and Daddy or Mom helped me with the characters I didn't know. Mom found that if I studied the Fa first, I could finish my homework quickly, and play the piano better. I also learn many Chinese characters while reading the Fa. Mom told me that I used to easily get angry when I was younger, which no longer happens, since I have been studying the Fa.

My parents have been very busy during the last couple of months, and I rarely studied the Fa. I started to get angry again quite often and sometimes I was even jealous of my younger sister. Daddy and Mom said to me, "You have become close to being an everyday kid. You need to sit down and study the Fa."

I got really upset when I heard this because I really didn't want to study Fa at that moment. But Daddy sat next to me and watched me, looking very serious. I had no choice but to study the Fa. After reading two paragraphs, I didn't feel angry any longer.

Teacher said in "Diligence and Righteous Enlightenment" from Hong Yin II:

"Don't let up in studying the Fa;
amidst it transformation happens
Let nothing sway conviction;
of it comes right fruit and the blooming lotus"
