By a practitioner who recently obtained the Fa in Daqing City Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) I used to be a cruel villain. I could not escape punishment and was sent to prison. The first two years in prison I did not repent. Instead, my hatred simmered and grew. I thought it was unfair since there are so many criminals worse than I that were not caught. But I still had to serve my time.

I finally understand that the meaning of life is not to compete for fame, profit, or feelings.

I am living in such a special environment in Daqing City Prison, with a group of special people. I can tell you that here exists inconceivable darkness. Due to mistreatment and hatred, prisoners exchange experiences on how to take revenge or commit more crimes. This place is an advanced "criminal manufacturing" plant. I will not say anything on how they ignore the value of lives, how they harm others or how they cheat and deceive one another--even the guards dare not deny this ongoing cycle of darkness.

The atmosphere is very tense and monotonous. I made contact with some detained Falun Dafa practitioners. At first I tried to persuade them to write a "guarantee letter" because I could exchange it for a reduction of my sentence. Why stay here to suffer? I could not understand Dafa practitioners at all. They were monitored by both guards and prisoners, only allowed to sleep two hours per night, and forced to stand all day as physical torture.

After interacting with them for a long time, I found practitioners to be sincere and kind people. They do not follow the evilness of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I can describe them in one sentence: True gold cannot be destroyed by fire.

In order to pursue the true meaning of life, I became a Falun Gong practitioner two months ago.

Maybe you still do not understand the true meaning of why people live or know what you will bring with you after death. To put it simply, I have learned that we reap what we sow. I no longer worry about hardships that cause ordinary people "headaches," and I have experienced miraculous physical improvements in these past two months. I am not here to try to persuade anybody to learn Falun Dafa. I am only here to tell you I have gained so much in these two months that ordinary people cannot gain in many lifetimes. Falun Gong is good! Falun Dafa is righteous!

Near China's northern borders lived a man well versed in the practices of Taoism. His horse, for no reason at all, got into the territory of the northern tribes. Everyone commiserated with him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.

After a few months, his animal came back, leading a fine horse from the north. Everyone congratulated him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a cause of misfortune," said his father.

Since he was well-off and kept good horses, his son became fond of riding and eventually broke his thigh falling from a horse. Everyone commiserated with him.

"Perhaps this will soon turn out to be a blessing," said his father.

One year later, the northern tribes started a big invasion of the border regions. All able-bodied young men took up arms and fought against the invaders. As a result, around the border nine out of ten men died. This man's son did not join in the fighting because he was crippled and so both the boy and his father survived.
