Some Thoughts on Righteous Thoughts, Fear and Security
(Clearwisdom.net) I once had a rather unclear understanding of the
relationship between being conscious of security and being attached to fear.
When some practitioners said I was being afraid for taking security measures, I
was muddle-headed. I then went ahead and did some
truth-clarification things without paying attention to security. As
a result, I was interfered with and persecuted by the authorities. I then
realized that, no matter how helpful you think fellow practitioners' words are
to you, everything is still measured with the Fa. Later, through constant Fa
study and sending forth righteous thoughts, I increased my understanding of this
matter. I would like to share my understanding here with fellow practitioners.
Please point out anything improper. First, let me talk about my understanding of fear. The Communist Party
culture motivates people to not fear hardship or death. This "no fear"
mentality is in fact not cherishing life. However, in Dafa cultivation, having
"no fear" means letting go of the attachment of fear. We treasure life
very much. We are not afraid of evil persecution or detention. However, this
does not mean we do things without considering the consequences. We need to let
go of our attachment of fear, but we still pay attention to security because we
cherish life. Next, I want to talk about my understanding of righteous thoughts and
righteous actions. I think first we need to at least understand Teacher's Fa and
not go to extremes or interpret Teacher's Fa out of context. If we can remember
what Teacher says when encountering different situations, we are then having
righteous thoughts. Actions we take under righteous thoughts are then righteous
actions. The more Fa principles we have in mind, and the fewer human notions that
remain, the stronger righteous thoughts we will have. While I was reading Teacher's new article "Thoroughly Dissolve the
Evil," I was very happy, as if a heavy burden was lifted from me, because I
felt the persecution would soon come to an end and there was not that much need
to pay attention to security. But then I remembered what Teacher said in
"Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Philadelphia, U.S.A.," "I've said before that the evil won't stop persecuting even right up
until the very end. Even if it's going to end tomorrow, today that evil will
still do evil just the same." So I reminded myself not to slack off and that I should do things carefully
and with wisdom. We should balance "removing the attachment of fear" and "being
conscious of security." We can't go from one extreme to the other. Any
extreme is not complete or safe. We should harmonize with the Fa and walk our
path righteously. My understanding is that we should relinquish our attachment of fear and do
what Dafa disciples are supposed to do. But at the same time we should pay
attention to security issues and try to take necessary security measures. We
should also send forth righteous thoughts, study the Fa, and look inward. We
should measure ourselves with the Fa. Only by doing these well can we be truly
be safe. Compared to people who don't yet know the truth, we are the safest because we
have obtained the Fa and because Teacher has pointed out the safest path for us.
As long as we study the Fa well and constantly rectify ourselves, we should be
able to find that most righteous path, which is also the safest, brightest and
happiest path. |
