Liu Hongyan, the leader of the Erdao Township Police Station and Li Juncai, the secretary of the Fifth Group of Zhangjiacun Village, broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Jihai's house. They took one Falun Dafa book and a photograph of Master Li. At the same time, Chen Jihai was arrested. The following article gives the details about how Mr. Chen was persecuted during the illegal detainment.

During his detention in the Erdao Township Police Station, Chen Jihai was forced by the leader of the police office, Liu Hongyan, to give up his belief in Falun Dafa. The secretary of the local group, Li Juncai, deceitfully persuaded Mr. Chen in order to try and convince him to give up his Dafa practice. Right after their unreasonable demands were rejected by Mr. Chen, they cursed Mr. Chen. Liu Hongyan slapped Chen Jihai's face in front of the secretary, Li Juncai, and other policemen.

During the illegal detention in the Fengman Police Station, Mr. Chen was asking the leader of local insurance unit, "Who are you? What's your name?" The leader replied, "I know why you ask me, I have received the phone calls from your overseas Falun Dafa practitioners." The bulky thug who was behind him stepped out to grab Mr. Chen and tried to humiliate him, saying, "If you don't tell the truth, I will smash you!" After a while he left because Mr. Chen just ignored him.

Liu Hongyan, from the Erdao Police Station said to Mr. Chen, "When you were in the Erdao Police Station, people there treated you in a more friendly way, but it will not happen in here!" He then started abusing Chen Jihai, slapping his face and kicking him hard. They tried to extort confessions out of Mr. Chen by torture. Afterwards, Chen Jihai was taken into a torture chamber where he was handcuffed to an iron chair inside an iron cage. Both of his hands and feet were cuffed.

Under numerous types of cruel mental and physical torture, Chen Jihai suffered tremendous mental stress. On his way to the toilet, he fell down from the fifth floor accidentally. He lost his balance when policeman Su Xiaodong was pulling him and thus suffered a severe arm fracture and two cracked ribs. His feet have been paralyzed ever since. He also fell unconscious with physical paralysis, and has lost the ability to live independently. He was therefore hospitalized in the Cardiothoracic Section of the Jilin 456 Hospital.

When Mr. Chen was in the hospital, the police chief Liu Hongyan kept threatening Mr. Chen and always tried to force him to swear at Falun Dafa and Master Li. Mr. Chen ignored all their threats. The policeman, Su Xiaodongshackled Mr. Chen onto the bed while he was bedridden. Su tried to persecute Chen Jihai the same way he tortured other innocent Dafa practitioners, but there was no way he could do it.

On October 25, Erdao police officer Liu Zhidong, policeman Su Xiaodong, and other officers, lied to Mr. Chen Jihai's daughter, Chen Li. They said to her, "We want to transfer Chen Jihai to the Public Police Hospital to provide good medical treatment for him." However, they had actually taken Mr. Chen to another Jilin City police station, known as the Third Jilin Police station. During the time they were transferring Mr. Chen, his stitches had not been removed, his arm was still supportedwith steel, and his lower limbs remained partially paralyzed.

After Chen Jihai had been illegally taken to the Jilin Detention Center, an older police officer asked him, "Do you agree that Falun Gong is a cult?" and pressured Chen to fellow their orders. The next day, the period of illegal detention had been lengthened an extra 30 days. That occurred after Chen Jihai denied their unreasonable demands.

In the Jilin detention center, one of the leaders, Jin, and the medical care staff said to Mr. Chen, "You better not go on a hunger strike; otherwise, don't blame us! The policy here is to force feed cold water to the person on a hunger strike!"

During the illegal detention in the Erdao and Fengman police stations, the chief of police, Liu Hongyan, always tried to force Chen Jihai to slander Dafa. He said, "Falun Dafa is X belief." Mr. Chen Jihai described how Falun Dafa benefited his life and health, and how many bad habits he had given up. However, the Police chief was not changed, but even tortured Mr. Chen Jihai more severely .

On October 26, 2006, Chen's family members demanded the police officers release Chen Jihai unconditionally, but this request was refused by police.

During the illegal detention, Chen Jihai's physical condition was extremely bad. The Erdao police officer extorted 8000 yuan from Chen's family without providing any evidence or receipt. Mr. Chen was then sent to the hospital from the detention center.

On November 9, Chen Jihai was taken to the Erdao Police Station again after he was discharged from the hospital. Liu Hongyan was irate and pointing to a Falun Dafa flier, yelling at Chen, "Who pushed you down the stairs?" (actually, the flier didn't describe that). Chen replied, "Let me see that." Liu said, "Of course, I cannot allow you to read this."Liu threatened Mr. Chen and said, "When you've been released, I'm going to go to your house every chance I get to see if you have any Falun Dafa materials. If I find them, I will take you into detention again."

Again, Liu asked Mr. Chen to report back to him twice per week. Afterwards, a police officer said, "I don't think he can come over that frequently, he has a bad health condition." Liu said, "Well, then come back and report to me once every week after next month." Finally, Liu tried to ask again, "Do you still want to practice Falun Dafa?" Mr. Chen just ignored him and left.
