Former Chief of the Administration Office of Liaoning Province Heishan County Petroleum Company Secretly Sentenced to Seven Years
By a practitioner from Heishan County, Liaoning Province
(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yingdong,
former chief of the Administration Office of the Liaoning Province
Heishan County Petroleum Company, was illegally arrested on October
25, 2005, simply because she is a Falun Gong practitioner. The police broke into
her home and put her in a detention center. Ms. Zhang is now unemployed. During
the illegal detention, Ms. Zhang suffered both physically and mentally. She was
very weak and almost lost consciousness. Even in such a situation, on January
16, 2006, the Heishan County Court secretly sentenced Zhang Yingdong to seven
years in prison. Zhang Yingdong started practicing Falun Gong in 1997. She previously had
heart disease, diabetes, neurasthenic, appendicitis, arthritis, pains of the
lumbar vertebra, mastitis and many other illnesses. Shortly after Ms. Zhang
started to practice Falun Gong, great changes occurred in her body. All her
illnesses disappeared one by one. Even people around her felt it miraculous. In
particular, at the beginning stage of her practice, when her appendicitis
reoccurred, a fist-size tumor appeared in her abdominal cavity and she had
extreme pain. The local hospital diagnosed with ultrasound that it was pustule
and said an operation would be required. However, Zhang Yingdong firmly believed
in Dafa and did not take the treatment in the hospital. Instead, she persisted
in studying the Fa and practicing the exercises. Soon the pustule
disappeared and she fully recovered. After practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Zhang's xinxing improved
rapidly. At home she was not only a good daughter-in-law who respected and
looked after her mother-in-law and father-in-law, but also a good wife and
mother. Her relationship with the wives of her husband's brothers greatly
improved, and she got along better with her husband's sisters. The whole family
lived in peace and harmony. At her workplace, Ms. Zhang treated her colleagues
nicely, and actively helped others. Though she was the chief of the
administration office, unlike other officials, she never took advantage of her
position to make a profit for herself. She was responsible and did her work
diligently. All her friends and colleagues thought very highly her. Zhang Yingdong has Internet access at her home. This is actually very common
in China. However, Ms. Zhang was investigated because she accessed the Internet,
and her online activities were monitored for a long time. Her home telephone was
tapped, and the downloading of articles from the Internet became the so-called
evidence of her "crime." On October 25, 2005, Feng Wenfang, Bi Shijun,
Zhang Shichun and others from the National Security Team of Heishan County
illegally arrested her Ms. Zhang. They detained the Zhang couple, and released
her husband ten days later. Zhang Yingdong was then detained for almost three
months. Before being arrested, Zhang Yingdong was healthy and her body was in good
shape. But during her detention, her physical and mental health deteriorated.
When the court convened on December 19, 2005, Ms. Zhang was as thin as a stick,
and looked very haggard. She had difficulty eating for several days and vomited
frequently. As she was delirious and fainted, the court session had to be
stopped. Even so, the court still took her back to the detention center. They
did not allow her to be visited by her family, nor did they tell them about the
situation of Ms. Zhang's health. What was even more suspicious was that on
January 5, 2006, the court staff went to the detention center, and secretly held
a court session to sentence Ms. Zhang while she was still delirious and ill.
They also forced Ms. Zhang to sign the document and completed the so-called
first stage of sentencing, and used it as the "evidence of crime." On
January 16, 2005, the court suddenly secretly handed down a sentence of seven
years, while Ms. Zhang's health had still not recovered. Her family has still
not been allowed to visit her. The unlawful detention and sentence of Zhang Yingdong also subjected her
family to tragedy. Her mother-in-law and father-in-law, who are both almost 80
years old, now have no one to look after them. As they worry about and miss
Zhang Yingdong, they are very sad and cry every day. They are in low spirits and
their health has been seriously affected. Ms. Zhang's husband has been busy
seeking help everywhere, but his efforts have so far been in vain. It is very
difficult for Zhang Yingdong's family members to endure this tragedy.
