Discussing What is Primary and What Is Complementary Based on the Issue of Hunger Strikes

(Clearwisdom.net) After reading the article "Do Not Become Disrupted by Positive Changes Brought by the Current Situation" published on the Minghui website, I heard that some Dafa practitioners in Mainland China are planning to publish their names, addresses and contact phone numbers and join the hunger strike started by overseas Dafa practitioners in protest of the violent attack of Chinese Communist spies against a Falun Gong practitioner. It brought to mind some discussions among practitioners inside and outside China on the hunger strike started by lawyer Gao Zhisheng. I recalled Master's teachings over the past few years. Here, I want to share a few points:

First, Dafa practitioners in China have different circumstances and demands on them than overseas practitioners. Whatever overseas practitioners do is to support practitioners in China and to help alleviate their pressure. Also, overseas practitioners live in different social environments, and people around them have different mindsets than Mainland Chinese. As a result, overseas practitioners utilize various forms to go against the persecution and clarify the truth during different time periods. Their approach is suitable for their situation, in order to better support Mainland practitioners. In fact, overseas practitioners' participating in these activities is doing something as individuals, and their fundamental goal is also to clarify the truth and save sentient beings.

Second, the practitioners in Mainland China make up the main body of Dafa practitioners. Saving the world's people, especially Chinese people with great inborn qualities but deeply poisoned [by CCP propaganda], is one of the main goals Dafa practitioners hope to achieve through doing the three things well. Therefore, as the main body of Dafa practitioners, Mainland practitioners must do well the three things required of Dafa practitioners, and they cannot depart from the main thread regardless of the situation changes. In fact, the spread of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party is also for sake of ordinary people, especially Chinese people, so that they could understand the two most fundamental truths, "Dafa is good" and "the persecution of Falun Gong is evil." Moreover, everyday, Mainland practitioners come across many precious Chinese people who don't know the truth, so they have more direct and convenient ways than the overseas practitioners to save Chinese people. They should seize all opportunities to clarify the truth and save people as much as possible by utilizing each second and concentrating on the truth clarification effort.

Third, during Master's Fa rectification, whatever is done by ordinary people of conscience who learn the truth, it is a partial reflection of the cosmic climate and is destined to occur in the process of Fa rectification. It is also the manifestation of Dafa practitioners' doing well the three things. Moreover, these cosmic climates all come to cooperate with Dafa practitioners, and maybe such people [like Mr. Gao Zhisheng] and things will emerge as further changes in the cosmic climate take place. Dafa practitioners, and especially Mainland practitioners endowed with an arduous mission, must devote their highly limited manpower, money and time to clarify the truth and save the world's people. Good things that happen in the ordinary society under the changes in cosmic climate are to cooperate with the main thread of Dafa practitioners saving the world's people. We should do better the things we are supposed to do, instead of growing complacent and deviating from the things we should do. The field of righteous thoughts that is formed when Dafa practitioners do the three things well will naturally protect and support ordinary people of conscience to oppose the persecution, and it will help more people who have learned the truth to step forward and oppose the persecution.

Master said,

"Saving beings, improving yourself, and resisting the persecution are all acts that validate the Fa; only walking straight your path amounts to validating the Fa.

You play the leading role in this period of history, and the existence of everything at present, whether it be evil or the upright gods, has to do with you. It is walking straight your path that is most important. In the final time, the evil's factors will dwindle, circumstances will ease up, and the world's state of affairs will change, but never will the path that you are to walk straight change." ("Walk Straight Your Path")

In the past few years, Master has repeatedly stressed that Dafa disciples must do well the three things as disciples of Dafa, and Master revealed the seriousness and urgency of saving sentient beings,

"...you are trying to save as many sentient beings as possible. If you are able to save half of the human beings, then Master will truly be happy for you!" ("Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005)

Out of kindness and conscience, Mainland Chinese practitioners want to participate and support the overseas hunger strike, or some practitioners inside and outside China want to participate and support the hunger strike of ordinary people of conscience, which of course are all out of kindness and conscience. Nevertheless, cultivators are judged by higher principles and standards. If we all could study the Fa better, become more mature with every incident, positive or negative, and every change in the situation, reminding ourselves to keep a calm mind and be clearheaded, we will be able to use this precious time and resources to save more precious Chinese people in a more effective manner, and fulfill our grand vow of assisting Master to rectify the Fa and save sentient beings.
