Exposing a Hidden Persecution Phenomenon at Jilin Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) Many Dafa practitioners are still held in Jilin Prison. Besides suffering persecution and brainwashing, they are forced to work beyond their physical limits. According to the "Prison Regulations," each prisoner can collect points to reduce their sentence through expressing his or her thoughts, or through work and study.

Dafa practitioners firmly believe that the persecution is illegal. It is against the laws of heaven and the conscience of mankind. However, practitioners do not strive to gain points to get their sentences reduced. Yet Jilin Prison hypocritically gave Dafa practitioners' points according to the regulations. As time went on, the points accumulated and some Dafa practitioners with short sentences were scheduled to be released early, according to the regulations. But the Jilin Prison authorities, against their own regulations, refused to reduce Dafa practitioners' sentences. Their excuse was that the practitioners refused to write a Guarantee Statement and refused to be "transformed".

Dafa practitioner Yuan Shengcai was illegally sentenced to four years. If the points he accrued were honored, he would have been released in September 2005. But Jilin Prison invalidated his points because he refused to write the Guarantee Statement. Another Dafa practitioner, Yang Junsheng, faced the same situation and should have been released in July 2005.

We believe the prison authorities are violating their own rules and regulations in terms of the way they treat Falun Gong practitioners. When the authorities do not follow the prison rules, the result is that Dafa practitioners are illegally detained for an extended duration.
