Information about the Death of Practitioner Mr. Pan Qichu from Yuchun City, Jiangxi Province

At the end of May, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Wang Meixiang and Mr. Pan Qichu from Yichun City in Jiangxi Province were arrested while they were distributing truth clarification materials. They were detained in Yichun City Detention Center and Mr. Pan was tortured to death on June 2, 2003. Ms. Wang was sentenced to Nanchang Prison for three years even though she had a daughter at home in primary school.

According to witnesses, Mr. Pan was tortured by being hung up in the detention center and was later sent to the hospital when he was dying. After he died, an autopsy was performed and excrement was found in his stomach. CCP officials hid this by announcing that he died from stomach disease.

Mr. Pan Qichu was on the staff of the Project Machinery Factory in Yichun City. He was a very good person and had a son and daughter. His wife was unemployed and his sister was unable to speak. Following his death from torture his wife, along with their children and his sister, went to the police station to ask for food. After the sister was sent to a retirement home they finally agreed to arrange for his wife to work at his old workplace, earning 300 yuan a month.
