(Clearwisdom.net) Before the Communists took power in China in 1949, my family and two uncles lived in one quadrangle (a compound with houses around a square courtyard - a typical Beijing style house). My father's younger brother owned two of the houses; one was 13 square meters and the other 8. Actually, my grandfather and my father's younger brother jointly owned this quadrangle. After my grandfather died, his share was divided between my father and my father's elder brother. My father's elder brother got the 13-square-meter house and our family the 8-square-meter one. Since my father's younger brother was healthy and worked very hard, he bought some land with his savings. In the busy farming seasons he would ask villagers to help since he could not handle the farming chores all by himself. After the job was finished he would give them either money or grain. Speaking fairly, my uncle actually helped those poor villagers by providing employment. Although my uncle had some land and could live a better life, he still lived humbly. His family would only have rice meals during the Chinese New Year. They normally would live on boiled sweet potatoes. He used his savings to help his neighbors and the poor people in the village. My family also got help from him.

During the "Land Reform," my father's younger brother was labeled as a landlord; my father's elder brother was marked as a middle peasant because he had a larger house, and my father a poor peasant. The nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is to kill, and its common practice is to incite one group of people to struggle against another group of people, and also to incite some people to kill others. Therefore when the "Land Reform" movement started, the thugs used by the CCP urged those people who received handouts from my uncle to fabricate charges against him. The fabricated charges included "oppression, exploitation and buying popular support." The thugs forced the villagers to beat my uncle, and those who refused to do so would be criticized as sympathizing with the landlord and failing to make a clean break with him; thus, they too would be implicated. Under such circumstances, those who did not want to beat up my uncle had to do so. At that time I was an only child but the horrible scene remains fresh in my memory. After a period of public accusation and everyone one who was willing to beat up my uncle or fabricate whatever charges against him were through, they simply dragged him out and murdered him.

After my uncle was executed, his daughter-in-law could no longer bear the humiliation and physical pain of being ridiculed, so she divorced my cousin. My uncle's family was ruined, leaving behind my aunty and my cousin. Their land and cattle had been confiscated and given to other people. The mother and son were driven out to live in their cattle pen. Ever since then, they lived with the humiliation of being publicly denounced all the time.

I had a friend whose father was labeled a "rightist" by the Communist regime; therefore her whole family was implicated. They were under surveillance and were publicly accused very often. Her mother was unable to bear the suffering any more and so divorced her father. My friend lived with her mother, and her brother went to stay with her father. At that time both she and her younger brother were under ten years old.

When the Communist regime headed by Jiang Zemin started to persecute Falun Gong, my friend, a Falun Gong practitioner, refused to give up the practice. As a result she was arrested many times and held at detention centers and brainwashing centers where the evildoers resorted to all kinds of methods to persecute her. However, coercion, temptation by promise of gain as well as fabrication and deception, all failed to change her belief in Falun Dafa. Then the authorities adopted the method of implication, forbidding her husband to be promoted and criticizing him. As a result, her husband could not bear it and divorced her. Two generations and two families were thus destroyed by the Communist regime. Her child became a child of a single parent, so actually the evil Party persecuted three generations of her family.

Another friend of mine suffered from intestinal cancer and it was cured after she began practicing Falun Dafa. Therefore she was determined to practice Falun Dafa no matter what happened. The authorities failed to make her renounce Falun Dafa so they sent her to a forced labor camp. Her husband divorced her, as he did not want to be implicated.

Since July 20, 1999, five practitioners I had known have been tortured to death, one of whom was a woman. Before practicing Falun Dafa they all suffered from various illnesses, which went away after practicing Falun Dafa, so they all became healthy. When the persecution of Falun Dafa started, their workplaces, neighborhood committees and local police stations forced them to write "guarantee statements" promising not to practice Falun Dafa. Leaders of some work places even threatened to fire them if they did not renounce Falun Dafa. They suffered a great deal mentally and were not allowed to do the Falun Gong exercises. From the beginning of 2000 to May, 2003, these five practitioners were tortured to death one after another and their families were all broken up. One of them was about 40 years old and his child was still in high school.

Among the other practitioners that I know, four are still in prison. They were all sentenced to more than four years of imprisonment. These practitioners are all middle aged or younger people that need to take care of the old and the young in their families. One of them had a child 4 years old. During the persecution, many more practitioners were forced to become homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested and persecuted. Among them, one practitioner was 8 months pregnant, but she dared not return home. When she gave birth, no one was around to take care of her. Now her child is 3 years old but they still dare not return home. Although some of the practitioners' families were not broken up, they could not return home for long periods of time. Husbands and wives cannot live together and they are unable to take care of their parents or children.

There are many more cases of broken families like these in our area. It is hard to calculate how many cases there are in the whole country. The Communist regime boasts that wherever it goes it will bring happiness. Actually it is an evil monster. Wherever it goes it will bring that place and its people disasters and suffering.
