Wang Zengren, 70 years old, was from Deyang City, Sichuan province. He was repeatedly detained and persecuted by police and 610 Office staff because he persisted in practicing Falun Dafa. In May 2003, he was illegally sentenced to forced labor. In Deyang prison he was tortured and drugged. His skull had two holes from beatings, so he was released on medical parole. He passed away on January 29, 2006. More details follow.

Mr. Wang Zengren was from Gaodou village, Yangjia town, Jingyang district, Deyang city. He had retired from the first division of the Mechanical Construction Company in Sichuan province. Before practicing Falun Gong, he had heart disease, diabetes and rectal cancer. He began to practice Falun Gong in 1997, and in two years all his diseases disappeared without further treatment. He felt the happiness of being free of pain. After the persecution began, he was detained three times because he clarified the truth about Falun Gong. Police ransacked his home many times, and confiscated two years' salary totaling 32,000 yuan.

In the last ten days of October 2000, policeman Lin Dexi arrested Mr. Wang. Lin was manipulated by the director of Jingyang district police sub-station, Xiang Huaming. Mr. Wang was handcuffed and detained at the police sub-station for one night. The next day he was sent to Deyang Detention Center and illegally detained for fifteen days.

At around 11 p.m. on August 15, 2001, police Xiang Huaming and Lin Dexi and 12 others went to Gaodou village, Yangjia town and seized Wang Zengren and his wife Tian Xingqiong. They took them to the local police station. Wang and his wife were not allowed to sleep, and they were assaulted by mosquitoes all night. Several Dafa books, truth-clarification materials, ID cards and address books were confiscated from their home. On August 16, Wang Zengren was detained at the Deyang City Detention Center for another fifteen days. He was transferred to the detention center in Jingyang district, Deyang city, and detained for another fifteen days.

In 2001, Yangjia town police caught Wang Zenren at the Deyang railway station and sent him to the Deyang City Detention Center for fifteen days. He was held for another four days by Yangjia town police. In the meantime, six to seven people--including police from Yangjia police station and Gaodou village security officer Yu Yunshou--broke down the door to Wang's house and ransacked it.

On August 23, 2002 Wang Zengren was again arrested, this time because he took part in a Falun Gong group practice with 92 people. At around 11:15 a.m. on September 25, 2002, Wang Zengren was deceived by Yangjia police chief Xiang Huaming into going to the Gongnong village police station. Xiang Huaming ordered Gongnong police to send Wang Zengren to Deyang city detention center. He was illegally detained there for nine months and in the middle of May 2003, he was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. His pension was also stopped.

On June 30, 2003, Wang Zengren was detained at Deyang city prison (95th Plant at Huangxu town), where the guards tortured him. The following is what Wang Zengren said before his death: "On the morning of August 4, two guards told me to go to the health office at the gate. One of them named Cui said I should stand by the window. He then told me to bend toward the windowsill. He wiped my head with an unknown drug and I fainted suddenly."

Wang Zengren was injected with unknown drugs and was kept unconscious for 12 days. He was incontinent, suffered anal erosion, his legs were swollen and he could not walk. Wang's head had two holes in it from the beatings he received, and as a result of all the persecution he suffered, Wang can no longer take care of himself. Wang Zengren was released on medical parole and he passed away on January 29, 2006.
