(Clearwisdom.net) Between 1992 and July 20, 1999, nine members of Ms. Zhu E's family started practicing Falun Gong and benefited tremendously from it. Their characters improved and they became very healthy. They had a great family relationship and were truly happy. Since Jiang launched the inhumane persecution, those who persisted in their belief were--and still are--severely persecuted.

Ms. Zhu E

Ms. Zhu E is 50 years old. She was cured of numerous illnesses through Dafa practice. After July 20, 1999, she persisted in her belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and went to Beijing in September 1999 to appeal for Dafa. She was illegally fired and her family was broken up. Ms. Zhu has been held in detention centers and forced labor camp(s) and prisons on several occasions, including the Miyun Prison in Beijing, the Jinzhou City Custody Center, the Jilin City Custody Center, the Jilin City Detention Center, the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, and in the Jilin Province Police Hospital.

Her Beijing appeal led to her arrest and incarceration in the Miyun Prison in Beijing. In November 1999, she was handcuffed and put in rusty shackles weighing about 19 pounds after she did the Falun Gong exercises in prison. Her shoes were removed and she was forced to drag herself along on the cold stone-paved floor for a whole morning. After she was drained of energy, two male guards dragged her as they ran. Rocks scraped her legs and feet, and the handcuffs and shackles cut deep into her flesh, causing excruciating pain and profuse bleeding. She was handcuffed and shackled for six days and nights. Ms. Zhu was handcuffed behind her back so she could not eat, sleep, or go to the restroom. The flesh on her feet ulcerated and her bones were exposed. She could not walk normally for more than six months, and deep scars on her ankles are clearly visible to this day.

Communist regime agents at the No. 1 Detention Center in Jilin City frequently subjected her to other corporal punishments. Sometimes she was forced to squat for ten hours. Ms. Zhu went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution, and the perpetrators force-fed her corn porridge with lots of salt. The feeding tube severely bruised her mouth and throat. Sometimes her stomach hurt so bad she could not straighten her back. While on her hunger strike, the detention center authorities ordered inmates to attack her verbally and physically and refused to let her move or sleep. Ms. Zhu became unconscious once on the floor after many days on the hunger strike, followed by standing for one day and one night. Her anguish was beyond words.

The abusers at the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City tortured Ms. Zhu savagely. They forced her to squat, stand and "fly an airplane" (1). Other gross abuses included forcing her to sit in a double-crossed leg position with her hands behind her and forbidding her from moving or using the restroom for three days. They made her sit in this uncomfortable and painful position for more than eight hours each day, until she was in agony. The abusers frequently hit her with bamboo planks, rubber hoses, and wooden sticks.

Ms. Zhu was also handcuffed to the door of the solitary confinement cell for ten hours until her arm and hand were so swollen she could not make a fist. Electric shock is commonplace, which often resulted in large blisters and scorched flesh all over her body. In July 2000, guard Zhang Guimei disfigured her face with electric baton(s). Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhu felt her face was on fire, and she could not sit or stand at ease. She could not sleep at night due to pain, so she sat up and held her face.

Ms. Zhu went on a hunger strike many times to protest the persecution and demanded her unconditional release. The frequent force-feedings made her nose and mouth bleed, often putting her in a state of near-suffocation. This made her cough and vomit blood long after the force-feeding.

At the Jilin Province Police Hospital Ms. Zhu was handcuffed to the bed and her feet were immobilized. She had a feeding tube and a urethral catheter in her, but she was left uncared for. Her back hurt as if it was going to break. She coughed but could not spit out the phlegm, and she often sweated profusely from coughing so hard. She was unable to move and had difficulty breathing. The catheter leaked but no one cared. She was soaked in sweat and urine. Northern China in December is very cold. The hospital staff opened the windows to let in fresh air, although Ms. Zhu was the only patient in the room, clad only in underwear. She shivered in the bone-freezing wind. They frequently gave her IV infusions against her will. It was commonplace for the nurses to leave her alone after inserting the needle. Occasionally the needle punctured her vein and the drug dripped into her muscle, causing great pain. Sometimes no one pulled the needle out after the IV fluid had run out and the bottle hung empty on the rack.

Ms. Zhu Yan

Ms. Zhu's younger sister, Ms. Zhu Yan, is 42 years old. She is modest, fair-minded and forgiving. She conducted herself strictly according to Truth-Compassion-Forbearance after she started practicing Dafa in October 1998. After July 20, 1999, when she heard slanders against Dafa, she couldn't sit at home and went to Beijing to validate Dafa with her sisters. She was arrested and sent to Miyun Prison in Beijing. The guards savagely beat her, handcuffed and shackled her, and forced her to squat and stand for long periods of time. They made her squat with her hands on the floor in front of her, while several male guards sadistically kicked her buttocks. When she sat on the floor, the guards stood on her legs and violently stomped them, which was excruciatingly painful and humiliating. After she returned to Jilin City she was held in the Kouqian Custody Center in Yongji County, Jilin Province, where she was subjected to brainwashing. Because she persisted in her belief, she was held for more than a month and fined 500 yuan. She was also unlawfully fired.

In 2003, officers from the Gangyao Police Department in the Longtan District of Jilin City arrested Ms. Zhu Yan and sent her to the No. 3 Detention Center in Jilin City. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor, but the labor camp refused to accept her because she didn't pass the physical exam. Her family was under tremendous pressure, and her husband filed for divorce.

In November 2005, officers from the Gangyao Police Department in the Longtan District of Jilin City arrested Ms. Zhu Yan in the street. Her two children and the rest of her family didn't know her whereabouts and looked for her everywhere. After a long time they learned that she had been arrested. Ms. Zhu Yan was persecuted at the Jilin City Detention Center for more than a month, after which she was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun. Her teenage children could not take it anymore. They have separated themselves from the family and left home to make their own living. Ms. Zhu Yan is now being held in a forced labor camp. Because she persisted in her belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, the authorities savagely tortured her, making her life an agony on a daily basis. But they failed to destroy her firm belief in Dafa. Ms. Zhu Yan's home is now empty.

Guo Yingjie

Ms. Zhu E's kind and honest sister-in-law, Ms. Guo Yingjie, is 47 years old. She started practicing Falun Gong in 1999, and soon afterwards the extreme persecution began. She saw and heard the slanders against Dafa on TV and went without hesitation to Beijing to appeal. She was arrested in Beijing and held at the Shunyi Detention Center. Ms. Guo held a hunger strike to protest the detention and was abused. After returning to Jilin City she was held at the Kouqian Custody Center in Yongji County, Jilin Province. Although she hadn't been practicing Falun Gong for long, she was very determined in her belief in Dafa. She went to Beijing to appeal again in 2000 and was sent back and held at the Kouqian Custody Center once more. She was released after three months of detention.

Ms. Guo had worked at a bank. She was laid off for nearly two years after she appealed in Beijing in September 1999, cutting off her source of income. Her husband and school-age children were living under tremendous pressure. She clarified the truth at her place of work and petitioned to return to her post. Her request was granted. She was later reported when clarifying the truth to a client. Jiang's villainous group gives large monetary rewards to those who report Falun Gong practitioners. Her employers again laid her off. The police have extorted about 10,000 yuan from her during the past few years, and her family is living in a very difficult situation.

In late 2004, a dozen Nation Security Bureau officials and police officers from Jilin City broke into her home and arrested her. They took her computer, printer, and Dafa materials. They sent her to the No. 1 Detention Center in Jilin City. She held a hunger strike and demanded her unconditional release. The officials retaliated with acts of persecution and denied her visitation rights. Several months later they sentenced her to six years in prison. She was later sent to the Heizuizi Women's Prison in Changchun City. During the Chinese New Year her daughter said, "Mom was being watched in her cell. She was forced to stand until she became dizzy and could not think straight. The guards say that she is the most stubborn and therefore they never permit us to see her." Her current situation is unknown. Her husband is the only person left at home at the moment. He suffers from many illnesses and has to give himself injections daily.

Ms. Jiang Lifan

Ms. Zhu mother, Ms. Jiang Lifan, was 75 years old when she passed away. The elderly woman had had many illnesses and could not even cook when her daughters were very young. Ms. Jiang was sickly as a child and in her teen years converted to Buddhism. Her family burned bundles of incense before a Buddha statue at home, but she still suffered from painful illnesses. In late 2001, when Ms. Zhu recovered from being persecuted at the labor camp, Ms. Jiang saw that her daughter was glowing with health and said, "I see the wonders of Dafa!" She started practicing Falun Dafa with Ms. Zhu. She was finally able to throw away the medicine jars that she had relied on most of her life and recovered full health. She didn't need any medication or injections for more than two years and was very energetic. She told everyone, "I have finally found the right path! Falun Dafa gave me a second life!"

Persecutors, including the head of the Gangyao Police Department who was later transferred, often harassed Ms. Jiang at home and arrested Ms. Zhu E and her sister Ms. Zhu Yan. They ransacked the home and took Dafa books. They forced the old woman to put her fingerprint on certain documents. She was so frightened that she could not study the Fa and do the exercises on a regular basis and grew weaker by the day. Ms. Zhu E left her mother to avoid causing her further stress from police harassment, and Ms. Zhu Yan took care of her. After Zhu Yan was sent to a labor camp, Ms. Jiang Lifan fell ill. She constantly called out Zhu Yan's name in the two months that she was bedridden before she passed away on December 26, 2005. Ms. Zhu E bid a tearful goodbye to her mother.

For their belief in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, this happy family was destroyed and torn apart by Jiang's villainous group. Countless other families in China have suffered a similar fate.

Note:

(1) For the "fly an airplane" torture, the practitioners' upper bodies and feet are forced close to the wall with brutal force. When the toes almost touch the bottom of the wall, one naturally wants to bend his knees to avoid injury to the tendons and the waist. But the torturers pull practitioners' knees away from the wall using towels in order to force their knees to straighten up. Whenever practitioners' arms give out, the torturers pull their arms back into the raised position, forcing them back into the agonizing posture. Anyone subjected to this torture is soon soaked in sweat due to the excruciating pain.
