Belated News: Police illegally arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Duan Shibao from Baoji City, Shaanxi Province on October 25, 2004. He was savagely tortured. The police searched him and handcuffed him behind his back. They tied his feet with a belt and put him in a vehicle. They drove him to the Dawang Police Department where they immediately beat and tortured him. They handcuffed him backwards to the head of a bed and for over ten hours forbade him to close his eyes, use the restroom, or eat or drink. The next day, more than 20 police officers arrived and took turns beating Duan Shibao. They forced him to half squat with his arms stretched out level in front of him and put a glass of water on his head. They later sent him to a brainwashing class held at the Baoji City Nitrogenous Fertilizer Factory.

He was handcuffed for one month at the brainwashing center. The Communist regime agents arrested nine of his family members, including his parents, his sister and brother, his brother-in-law, his nephew and sister-in-law and son. All were sent to the brainwashing center. They also fined each person 1,000 yuan. They later sent Duan Shibao to the No. 2 Detention Center in Baoji City. These morally bankrupt people extorted more than 10,000 yuan from him and took additional money and private belongings from his home. According to the policy, one cannot be held for more than 37 days at the No. 2 Detention Center, yet Duan Shibao was held there for 56 days. He was later sent to the No. 1 Detention Center where he was subjected to another round of torture.

During the past few years of persecution, Duan Shibao was sent to brainwashing centers and detention centers three times. He was held in a custody center once, and in a labor camp for two years. This time he was sentenced to eight years in prison. During the first labor camp stay, his brother and sister-in-law were sent to the labor camp along with him, and his father and nephew were held in a custody center, which caused them great trauma.
