New Zealand TV Reports Falun Gong Practitioners' Protest (Photo)
(Clearwisdom.net) A New Zealand TV station reported on April 6, 2006
that Premier Wen Jiabao arrived in New Zealand for a three-day visit, and that
Falun Gong practitioners protested Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s persecution. The report stated, "Falun Gong members say their protests are having an
impact and will continue." "Falun Gong devotee and New Zealand
resident Steven Zhu says he was tortured by police in China because of his
beliefs." "Protesters say there is now more awareness of the human rights abuses
and say the New Zealand government needs to stand up to China." New Zealand Prime Minister Clark says she will raise human rights concerns
with Wen but says the focus will be on other issues like a free trade agreement. She says there are obvious areas of concern like the issue of Tibet,
arbitrary detention and the allegations of persecution of the Falun Gong
spiritual movement. The Falun Gong, or Falun Dafa, is a spiritual movement that began in 1992.
