(Clearwisdom.net) I have been worried about Ms. Huang Xin since I learned about the hidden activities at the sinister Sujiatun Concentration Camp. Ms. Huang is a Dafa practitioner who has been held and brutalized with psychiatric medications at the Dabei Women's Prison in Shenyang City.

Ms. Huang Xin, a 51-year-old retired medical staff member of the Shenbei Railway Hospital in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, was illegally sentenced to eight years in prison in September 2003. She was cruelly tortured at Dabei Women's Prison. Without undergoing any psychiatric exam, she was forced to take the neurologically harmful medication chlorpromazine, a strong tranquilizer, for eight long months.

I went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong after the former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Jiang Zemin, launched the persecution. For this I was jailed three times with Ms. Huang, an attractive and gracious lady.

I was jailed for the first time right before October 1, 1999, a national day of mourning. Jiang was fearful about Dafa disciples' staying in Beijing to appeal and began a massive campaign of arrests. Public security officers in Shenyang City arbitrarily changed the standard legal detention period from 15 days into 30 days for Dafa practitioners, to prevent them from going to Beijing again. The officers in my city's district openly stated, "There is no legal 30-day detention period. But we will detain you for 30 days. So what?"

I was sent to Shenyang's Fangjialan Detention Center and jailed in the same cell with Ms. Huang Xin, Ms. Zhao Suhuan, now in Taiwan, and Gao Lili, Ms. Gao Rongrong's sister. Ms. Gao Rongrong was jailed in an adjacent cell.

During the tormenting detention, Ms. Huang looked after the elderly and cared for the young. She even clarified the truth of Dafa with compassion to jailed prostitutes and advised them to treasure themselves and not to do bad deeds again.

One day all the detainees went downstairs for military marching drills except Ms. Huang, another Dafa practitioner, and me. Suddenly, two deaf-mute detainees, instructed by the guards, came in to search for things. They soon found Dafa books. It happened right before the guards' eyes, and none of us understood sign language. At this urgent moment Ms. Huang put one thumb up and pointed to the book. The two of us immediately learned from her: we put our thumbs up and pointed to the Dafa book and then to our hearts. The deaf-mute people understood us and returned the book to us at their own risk. How happy we were at that moment! And the two deaf-mute people were also very happy.

Not long afterwards, deep into the night, in the eerie detention building, a guard in an adjacent room suddenly shouted, "I'll see how you can practice. Gao Rongrong, you took the lead! You come out." Then, a fierce-looking female guard whose last name was Sha forced Gao Rongrong to squat in the corridor. Sha ordered a detainee to bring her a basin of water, then she went upstairs and downstairs looking for electric batons, yelling that she would shock Gao Rongrong. I was staying beside Zhao Suhuan at that time and felt indescribable fear pressing down on us in the darkness. It was only because the guard did not find any electric batons that Gao Rongrong avoided torture that night.

We shared our thoughts the next day. "Should we do the Dafa exercises?" "We should." "Why?" "Because we are cultivation practitioners, we went to Beijing to tell the government that Dafa is good. We are still practitioners and we still need to tell people that Dafa is good, even though we are in jail. Of course, as practitioners, we should do the exercises. Let's do the exercises."

On learning about our discussion, the detention center displayed all of its handcuffs and electric batons in the corridor to intimidate us. I can remember very clearly that scene: the afternoon sun shone in the cell through the dense rails on the dusty window. We sat on a wooden board and quietly shared our thoughts. Huang Xin said a lot, softly. She said that she had suffered from a serious illness before and couldn't go to work for many years. She became a healthy person through practicing Dafa. It was Master who had removed the tormenting illness for her. She used to be timid, but this time she bravely went to Beijing. As she said, "We should safeguard the Fa."

During the night all the practitioners in the cell stood in an orderly manner and began to do the Dafa exercises. An obese female guard named Zhang rushed in and shocked us madly with her electric baton. Then we were handcuffed, dragged into the corridor and shocked there. None of the nearly 30 detained practitioners in the cell, from a 63-year-old to one just 20 years old, escaped being shocked. Huang Xin was tortured severely. She was almost unconscious and had general convulsions. The next day, the detention center sent her to the Public Security Hospital. We all cried at seeing her suffer and requested that the detention center release her.

In the days that followed we inquired closely every day about Ms. Huang, but the guard Zhang never told us the truth. However, from then on, most of the guards and criminal inmates started to offer us help.

Thirty days later, agents from the Public Security authorities in Shenyang attempted to jail us long-term. It was only through a collective hunger strike that we were released.

I was later jailed twice with Ms. Huang Xin, both in Beijing and Shenyang. She was still so gentle and quiet, beautiful and noble. She told me that the detention center had sent her to a hospital located in a basement. It was run by agents from the Public Security authorities, and she had suffered from a great deal of torture. Having learned that we had been released by going on a hunger strike, she protested strongly against her detention. They released her only after extorting a lot of money from her family.

In harsh environments we looked for opportunities to share experiences on how to safeguard the Fa, using methods that conformed to Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance, and how to conduct ourselves in accordance with a practitioner's standard without permitting the evil to sabotage the Fa. We felt it tough going to take each step forward at that time, but we encouraged each other with the Fa, never shrinking back, no matter how many tribulations and difficulties there were.

I haven't seen Ms. Huang Xin since we last parted, but I learned that she was released after having been tortured to the brink of death after she was sentenced to prison. This time it was her railway system employer that actively followed the CCP's persecution policies. Having not paid Ms. Huang her salary for a long time, her employer ordered her to return her already-issued salaries. When she arrived at her workplace, Public Security officers who had been waiting there for a long time immediately arrested her against her protests. She was then sent to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. There were stories that she was severely tortured, but later it was difficult to get any information about her from the prison.
