Malaysia: Falun Gong Practitioners Accuse Police of Detaining Practitioners Due to Pressure from the Chinese Embassy (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On April 18, 2006, Falun Gong practitioners in Malaysia filed a formal accusation to the police discipline department of the Malaysian Police headquarters and Malaysian Human Rights Commission about the Chinese Embassy exerting pressure on the police, and continuing to harass and detain practitioners who conduct protest activities outside the Chinese Embassy. The whole process was followed while accompanied by several high-ranking police officials.

Lawyer: Falun Gong practitioners' activities have not violated the law. The police cannot harass practitioners under the pressure from the Chinese Embassy

In the morning, Falun Gong practitioners first went to the police discipline department in the Malaysian Police Headquarters to file a formal complaint. At the same time they held banners to convey messages to the Malaysian government, in hopes that Malaysia will respect human rights, and not be intimidated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The practitioners also protested the CCP extending the persecution to Malaysia. After that, the practitioners went to the Malaysian Human Rights Commission to deliver a memorandum.

Spokesperson for Falun Gong Wu Wenqiang said that since last December practitioners have gone to the Chinese Embassy on a daily basis to protest the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong, and have been subjected to harassment by the Chinese Embassy. Especially after the exposure of the CCP's organ harvesting in concentration camps, the harassment became even worse. Wu Wenqiang expressed that the practitioners hope the Malaysian government will not be intimidated by the CCP, "All governments in the world have learned that Falun Gong is being persecuted. We hope our government can also understand, and no longer infringe upon Falun Gong's human rights due to pressure."

Falun Gong practitioners' lawyer said that it is not right that the Malaysian police are pressured into interfering with peaceful practitioners who have not violated the law. He called on the Human Rights Commission to investigate this matter.

The lawyer attended the press conference that Falun Gong practitioners held at the Human Rights Commission, and made a speech. He said, "The Malaysian police even cooperate with the Chinese Embassy to interfere with Falun Gong practitioners. We are surprised and disappointed at such an act. The Chinese Embassy is very arrogant, and even intimidates practitioners who protest outside. We have a case record of a Chinese Embassy officer threatening a practitioner by saying, 'I drag you in, and then you will be finished!'"

He hoped that the human rights commission seriously deals with the matter and at the same time appealed to the police chief to handle this matter. "Falun Gong practitioners have not violated the law, there are only two or three people protesting daily outside the Chinese Embassy, and the things they are doing are noble. They are calling for the release of persecuted practitioners in China. The police should not harass them because of pressure from a foreign country."
