Central News Agency: (Taiwan) DPP Lawmakers Urge Probe into Allegations of China Organ-Harvesting
April 18, 2006 Lawmakers of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) urged
international organizations Tuesday to investigate claims that emerged about
Chinese authorities harvesting organs from detained Falun Gong members in China. Legislators William Lai, Tien Chiu-chin and Huang Chao-hui proposed that the
Legislative Yuan issue a resolution to urge Amnesty International and the World
Health Organization to send a task force to an alleged Chinese concentration
camp to investigate allegations that Chinese authorities are harvesting human
organs from detained Falun Gong members. Lai urged people not to receive organ transplants in China not only because
its medical care level is not as good as in Taiwan, but also because patients
should not accept organs harvested in violation of human rights. Falun Gong members in Taiwan claim that China is running a Nazi-style
concentration camp where around 6,000 Falun Gong members are detained, and the
harvested organs are sold to patients around the world.
