Understandings after Studying "Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles"

(Clearwisdom.net) Master's "Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles" has been published recently. I have anxiously been waiting for this lecture. I was stunned in my whole body and heart after reading Master's lecture, and deeply felt Master's immense benevolence. Master has truly worked hard in order to save us. The Fa-rectification of the universe is orderly, and the cultivation of our practitioners is orderly as well. I feel that we indeed should advance diligently! Otherwise, we will truly be unworthy of Master's benevolent and painstaking saving, as well as the eager expectation of sentient beings, and furthermore we would not be fulfilling our own great vows made in the pre-historical period.

Cultivation is serious. I was both shocked and felt ashamed when reading Master's lecture. For quite a long time, when faced with other's opinions or criticism, I would feel either awkward or uncomfortable. I tried to argue with others, or in more serious cases got angry, rather than calmly thinking about whether their opinions were reasonable or looking within to see if I had any problems. This is indeed not the state of a cultivator. When clarifying the truth to non-practitioners, sometimes I also lost my patience. No wonder the listeners could hardly accept what I was telling them. This is not saving people, but actually pushing people away! Master requires from us that we treat others with compassion. My behavior did not bear any kindness at all, let alone compassion! Actually, Master has told us about this issue a long time ago. A cultivator must be able and willing to listen to different opinions, criticism or even blame. One must look within to find one's own problems or shortcomings when encountering such problems. This happened because of my lack of serious regard and attention. Master's lecture was like a heavy hammer that started to wake me up.

In fact, while we are validating the Fa and saving sentient beings, we should be disciplined and seriously cultivate ourselves well. We should eliminate all our attachments and purge our demon nature. Only then can we truly achieve our objective of validating the Fa and saving sentient beings. The less attachments we have, the purer our hearts will be, the more powerful the things we do during validating the Fa, the better the role we will play in eliminating the evil and saving sentient beings.
