Louisiana: Daily Advertiser Reports on Falun Gong Southeast Van Tour
(Clearwisdom.net) On May 9, 2006, the largest newspaper in Lafayette,
Louisiana, the Daily Advertiser, published a report on Falun Gong
practitioners' Southeast Van Tour. The article said that a small group of Falun Gong practitioners from three
states held a press conference outside the Lafayette Consolidated Government
building on Monday, May 8, calling for the Bush administration to drop all
charges against Dr. Wang Wenyi. It is reported that Dr. Wang shouted her appeal
at a welcoming ceremony for Hu Jintao at the White House. The group said that Wang's outburst was a plea for ending the CCP's
outrageous acts of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Wei from Tennessee said, "I want the people in Lafayette to know
that there is a severe crime going on and that it's related to a lot of American
people. We need to speak up and stop the evil before it contaminates our
world." The article said that practitioners in the Van Tour compared the persecution
with the persecution of the Jewish people during the WWII, and said that the CCP
arrested thousands of Falun Gong practitioners each year. Lecturer Nancy Ortego from the School of Nursing at the University of
Louisiana is a Falun Gong practitioner in Lafayette, she supported Dr. Wang's
decision to publicly appeal for Falun Gong. She said, "I'm a nurse,
therefore, I understand this matter ... must make a decision conforming to
professional ethics." She said, "The decision must be made quickly on the spot. This is my
understanding of Dr. Wang's public appeal that day. I certainly support her
decision to do [it] that way."
