Several Practitioners Die Due to Harassment, Intimidation and Persecution by the Xishan Coal and Electricity Group

(Clearwisdom.net) During the past seven years, officials at the Xishan Coal and Electricity Group in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province have followed Jiang Zemin's regime closely to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. They ask every party member to take a stand against Falun Gong. They also pressure the units where practitioners work to help persecute practitioners. Family members of practitioners are implicated. For instance, children of practitioners are deprived of their rights to be promoted, and their salaries and bonuses are withheld.

Ms. Hao Zhaolin began to practice Falun Gong in 1998, and soon all her illnesses disappeared. After the persecution began in 1999, the Xishan Coal and Electricity Group constantly sent people to harass, intimidate, and threaten her. They pressured her to give up the practice of Falun Gong, threatening that her pension would be stopped. They also forced her to write a guarantee statement promising not to practice any longer. Under the harassment and pressure, Ms. Hao's mind and body were severely damaged. She passed away on September 19, 2003, at the age of 66.

Mr. Liu Mingzhong was an employee of Xishan Coal and Electricity Group. In late 2000, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After he was returned to his home area, he was detained at the Taiyuan Xindian Forced Labor Camp. While in detention, he was stripped of his clothes and had cold water poured all over his body. He was forced to lie on the ground, and the police splashed water on him using a broom used to sweep the bathroom. Mr. Liu was tortured to the point of dying. Only then was he released on medical parole. He passed away in August 2005, at the age of 68.

Practitioner Zhang Bin worked for the Communication Division at the Xishan Coal and Electricity Group. In late 2005, the Xishan Coal and Electricity Group Party Committee Secretary Gao Rong and others pressured the Communication Division director to force Zhang Bin to give up the practice of Falun Gong. In order to finish his assignment, the director told Zhang Bin that everyone hated Zhang because of his practice of Falun Gong. As a result, Zhang Bin was in extreme agony. He passed away on April 25, 2006. He was only 38.

Several days after Zhang Bin's death, on April 28, Gao Rong and others began to pressure the Geology Division of Xishan Coal and Electricity Group, asking the person in charge to force their practitioners to give up the practice of Falun Gong, or else the whole division's salaries would be suspended.
