Organ Transplantation Professionals From Various Countries Condemn Live Organ Harvesting by the Chinese Communist Party

May 20, 2006 |   By a practitioner in England

(Clearwisdom.net) The third international no-heart beating donor organ transplantation conference was held in London, UK from May 11 to 12, 2006. In order to alert medical professionals to the crimes of live organ harvesting occurring in Chinese labor and concentration camps, several English Falun Gong practitioners held a banner reading "Please Help to Stop the Live Organ Harvesting from Falun Gong Practitioners" outside of the conference site. They exhibited photos exposing the live organ harvesting and cruel torture of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), distributed related materials to attendees and passersby, and collected signatures.

About forty-seven medical professionals signed the appeal statement condemning the unethical organ harvesting by the CCP. Some could not sign because they needed to rush to the airport, but they said that they would sign and return it by mail to Falun Gong practitioners. Those people are in the field of organ transplantation and represent organizations from countries all around the world. Many are the leaders of these organizations, including the coordinating director of the Belgium organ transplant center, and the director of the Czechoslovakia organ transplant center.

The statement also expressed concern about the systematic live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in labor camps and detention centers in China. It urges the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and other related international organizations to immediately carry out public and independent investigation of all prisons, detention centers, and labor camps (within the borders of China) without being blocked by the CCP.

After seeing the exhibit, the director of the Belgium organ transplant center said to practitioner Ms. Gao, "This is too inhuman! Such things need to be condemned." He told Ms. Gao that he knew about the live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners because he had previously received e-mail from other practitioners. He wished to know more about the persecution of Falun Gong. He also asked Ms. Gao to print a copy of the photo to show his colleagues in Belgium. Another director of an organ transplant center from Russia heard the voices of practitioners, "Your support will stop the killing in China," and immediately signed the statement.

In addition, Professor Jan Lerut, the former president of the European organ transplant association, expressed his opinion regarding the live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China when interviewed by New Tang Dynasty TV, "It is certainly terrible. It should not happen. It should not exist." He said that forced organ transplanting should be prohibited and should not continue. If someone is willing to donate organs, it should be voluntary but not forced. Professor Lerut called on every organ transplant association, individuals and countries to try their best to oppose forced organ transplanting in China. He said, "In my opinion, everyone should oppose (this) in their own way. It will be effective if everyone does this."
