Nagano, Japan: Press Conference Exposes the Atrocities of Organ Harvesting from Living Practitioners (Photo)

(Clearwisdom.net) On May 19, 2006, practitioners in Japan held a press conference at the Press Club of the Nagano County Government to expose the Chinese Communist regime's atrocities of harvesting organs from living practitioners, to call for media attention, and for help to stop the ongoing crimes in China. A similar press conference was also held in Niigata one week before this event.

Mr. Sato, editor of the Epoch Times Japan Branch, recounted the exposure of the Chinese Communist regime's Sujiatun concentration camp, played a recording of witness Peter's testimony and recordings of phone investigations into Chinese hospitals by several undercover volunteers. All of these recordings consistently confirmed that Falun Gong practitioners are being used as live organ donors in hospitals in China.

Medical Doctor Ms. Lei Shuhong introduced the situation of organ transplants in China. She pointed out that behind the fast-growing organ transplant practice throughout China, many innocent Falun Gong practitioners have been killed.

She said that in 2005, 10,000 kidney transplant operations were performed (7,000 in 2004 and 5,000 in 2003) and 4,000 liver transplant operations were performed (2,000 in 2004 and 1,500 in 2003). Where did these organs come from? Even though the Chinese authority admitted that they have used death-row inmates' organs, there is still a huge gap, as officially announced death penalty cases were just 1,770 in last year. In addition, there is also an issue of matching organs: In general, one matching kidney can be found out of 50 kidneys. This official statistic itself is in fact evidence of the Chinese Communist regime's crimes of killing practitioners for organ transplants.

Dr. Lei Shuhong also pointed out that the total number of organ transplant cases in other countries largely remained constant over the years. For instance, in Japan, from 1995 to 2005, kidney transplants from dead bodies fluctuated between 118 to 183. Counting the live kidney transplant cases, the total number varied between 520 and 898 from 1984 to 2004. This is also true for the United States and many European countries. Only in China, coinciding with the ever-escalating persecution of Falun Gong, the annual total number of organ transplant cases has been increasing at an incredible speed since 1999. Taking liver transplants as an example, there were only 78 transplant cases from 1991 to 1998. However, in 2005 alone, the total number is already 20 times higher than the total number from that period of eight years. We cannot imagine how many practitioners in China are facing arbitrary live organ removal!
