1. [Liaoning Province] Eighth Team of Liaoning Women's Prison Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners

Over the past several months, guards at Liaoning Women's Prison have continued their brutal persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. They force practitioners to work close to 15 hours daily, day in and day out. They brandish electric batons to force prisoners to work harder and complete the assignments. Practitioners have been shocked with electric batons repeatedly. Guards shocked areas near the heart, on the chest and back, neck and other sensitive body parts. Many people still were shocked, even after their bodies were swollen. Open sores were clearly visible, and there were many bleeding injuries.

In the morning of April 30, 2006, Ms. Bao and Ms. Yu were arrested when posting truth clarifying fliers on the streets. They were arrested by police from Wuhan City's Wuchang District Liandaojie Police Station and taken to the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center.

Ms. Li Jinyu, a Shanghai practitioner, is being illegally detained at Qingpu Women's Forced Labor Camp. The guards there have ordered prisoners to beat her.

At about 3:30 a.m. on May 7, 2006, police from Hebei Province's Shijiazhuang City Public Security Bureau Yuhua Branch came to Ning Yongqian's home, a Falun Dafa practitioner who lives in Fangcunzhen Nanwei Village. As soon as Ms. Ning's mother opened the door, police rushed into the house and ransacked it. Then, they arrested Ms. Ning and took her to the Fangxing (Fangcunzhen) Police Station.

The following morning, police from the Fangxing Police Station forced Ning Yongqing to pay then 3,000 yuan. Then, they took Ms. Ning to the Beichenglu Brainwashing Center and left her there. In order to resist the persecution, Ning Yongqian went on a hunger strike for six days.

Dr. Wang Xinggui, a doctoral adviser from the Ordinance Engineering College, and Mr. Zhang Junsheng from Beijing Institute of Engineering Design of the General Equipment Department are also detained at the brainwashing center.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Gao Yunhua, from Jianping County, Liaoning Province, was arrested by police at around 3:00 a.m. on May 4, 2006. Mr. Gao is currently illegally detained at the Jianping County Second Detention Center.

Ms. Chen Meiling, 57, a Dafa practitioner from Yantai Zhifu District, was arrested at 5:00 p.m. on May 5, 2006 after she returned home. Policeman Zhuang Hongjiang, who had broken into Ms. Chen's home, was waiting to arrest her at her home. Currently Ms. Chen is illegally detained at a brainwashing center.

At 7:00 p.m. on May 4, 2006, staff from Chengyang District's Hongdao Public Security and Protection Bureau arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Wang Xueqian, who was working at a shrimp pond. They took him to the police station and confiscated his notebook computer, printer, and many Dafa books.

At 8:00 p.m. on the same day, the police came to Houhancun. They broke into Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Zongyi's home and arrested him. Mr. Liu was studying Falun Dafa at his home at the time.

On April 16, 2006, the Huochengken District Public Security Bureau and State Protection Bureau Unit leader Qu Xiaoping and others arrested Ms. Yang Yonglan and Ms. Li Qiying, Dafa practitioners from the 66th Team in Yili, Xinjiang, when they were clarifying the truth. The authorities extorted 5,000 yuan from their families and threatened to take the practitioners to a force labor camp if the families would not pay the money. The two practitioners are currently detained illegally.

Ms. Zhang Xiuyun, a Falun Dafa Practitioner from Huocheng, Xinjiang, was illegally sentenced to six years in prison. She was on medical release, due to her high blood pressure, but was constantly monitored by the authorities. On April 25, 2006, Ms. Zhang was arrested again and taken to the detention center, where she is still detained.
