My name is Yu You, I am employed at the Jiaohe City Employment Bureau as a driver. My wife practices Falun Gong. As a result, I have also benefited by walking on this path. Through studying and assimilating to the deeper meaning of the teachings, I have constantly upgraded my xinxing. At all times, I try to upgrade my xinxing and remind myself that I am a true practitioner.

One day, in the month of September 1996, as I was driving the jeep home, I discovered a car parked at a slanted angle in the corn field. On the east side of the road, a small car had overturned, two or three people were working frantically to pull out a man whose head was soaked with blood. They were carrying the injured person to the main road. Before the carriers could put the injured person on the ground, I had already opened the door of the jeep. I let them carry the injured person to the jeep. Urgently, I asked how many people were trapped and injured in the car accident. They unanimous reply I got was, "I don't know, but the situation is serious and urgent." They suggested that saving lives was the number one priority and that I should take off for the hospital immediately. "The others could be taken care of by stopping other vehicles to give them a ride." Hurriedly, I jumped back inside the jeep. I used one hand to support the injured person and the other to turn the steering wheel, and headed straight for the hospital. Later, the injured person started to groan, intermittently, in a broken voice. I learned that there were a total of five people in the car. He was from Jilin City and employed at the city's Power Supply Bureau as a construction worker.

After I arrived at the city hospital, I registered the patient in the casualty section. He was admitted to the emergency room and I explained the incident to the doctor. I then promptly drove to the city's Power Supply Bureau to notify them. The company took the issue very seriously, and they immediately began to organize and dispatch vehicles with medical care personnel to rush to the accident scene to rescue the remaining victims. They also dispatched other staff with money to cover the hospital medical fees and expenses. Seeing them taking care of everything so well and expeditiously, I went home.

A month later, both the directors of the Jilin City Power Supply Bureau and the Jiaohe City Power Supply Bureau came to my workplace with a multicolored silk banner award to express their gratitude. As a token of their appreciation, they offered to give me a 500 yuan bonus for what I did. They also remarked that I was too modest about leaving my name for the good deeds I did, thus making it hard to find me. As a practitioner of Falun Gong, I realized that given the situation and the circumstances, the assistance I provided to help save an injured person is a correct and just deed which any person would do. Firmly and resolutely, I told them that I could not take the money and that they could donate the money to Project Hope.

I was also informed that the person I had rushed to the hospital for emergency rescue was named Wang Zhixin. After he was transported to the hospital, the remaining four victims were carried to the highway. They tried to stop the cars passing by but none responded to the rescue call. The drivers not only did not stop to help, but sped away at a higher speed. They totally ignored the injured victims lying on the road. After a while, they managed to stop a taxi, but the taxi driver refused to carry the injured victims. However, he did park his car in the middle of the road to create a blockade for the oncoming cars. In this way, finally, they managed to stop a larger vehicle that carried all the remaining victims to the hospital. However, because of the long delay in transporting the victims to the hospital for emergency rescue, one of the victims was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital. Hearing this story made me feel sad for the victims and remorse for those drivers that did not care to stop and help.

After several days passed by, Mr. and Mrs. Wang Zhixin came to see me with their child. They thanked me for saving his life. Mr. Wang Zhixin told me that his son's injuries were very serious and had it not been for my timely help in rushing him to the hospital, he wouldn't be alive today. He sincerely thanked me for saving his life. I asked him not to thank me, because all Falun Dafa practitioners under similar circumstances would have done exactly what I had done. He responded that if that was the case, he should thank Falun Dafa for saving his life. He also wished that all drivers in the world were Falun Dafa practitioners.
