By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China

In 1996 I was happy to obtain the Falun Dafa. At that time in our area there was an upsurge of memorizing the Fa and transcribing the book, Zhuan Falun. My regret was my lateness in learning of the Dafa, but I was still unwilling to be left behind. I could recite almost all the articles written by Teacher and memorize part of the chapters in Zhuan Falun. This set up a relatively solid foundation for my path of validating Dafa later.

Since 1997, I have come to Beijing for odds-and-ends work. In this capital city, there are so many people, disordered and disorganized, and it is hard to make a living in such a difficult environment. But I think that since now I am a cultivator, this complicated place should be a good site for cultivation practice. Also, all the sentient beings are here for the Fa and need our salvation. Teacher says in the article, "Environment," in the book Essentials for Further Advancement, "The environment is created by you, yourselves, and it too, is essential for your improvement." Thus, I decided to stay here in Beijing to create a new environment!

After the persecution started on July 20, 1999, during the daytime I utilized all opportunities to publicize Dafa to people. I saw every coworker as a potential receiver of the truth of Falun Gong, planning to contact them and make friends with them so as to be able to go to their work sheds at night to talk to more people. They were glad to hear my information, which led to invitations from other work sheds. At night the workers had tea or water and listened to my vivid storytelling based on summaries of real accounts about the persecution of practitioners all over China, cultivation experiences, and Falun Gong's increase in popularity in the western world. They were interested and happy to listen, asking many questions. Meanwhile, I had some difficulty in studying the Fa and doing the exercises as so many workers were squeezed together in a work shed to sleep, and the lighting was poor. Every night I had to go up to the work site tower, standing by the window so as to use the search light for my reading the book and doing the Falun Gong exercises. When I came down to the shed, all the other people were sound asleep. Since Jiang's persecution of Falun Dafa began, until 2003, in those 4+ years, every night, no matter how cold it was in the winter or hot in the summer, I maintained this way of cultivation practice. Workers and my boss knew that I was practicing Falun Gong at the tower but they were not surprised.

At one point I realized that clarifying the truth only at the construction site, offering salvation to people there, was too small in scope. I felt that I should add on other forms of truth clarification to make more Chinese people aware of the nature of this persecution. However, in these several years I did not have a good source of truth-clarification materials except for some Dafa materials I brought from home once or twice a year when I went back to visit. Therefore, I simply used rolls of art paper with glue on the back, to make small banners. I wrote things like, "Unprecedented Injustice to Falun Dafa," "Bring the Evil Criminals Who Persecute Falun Gong to Court: Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Li Lanqing, Li Changchun, Zeng Qinghong, Zhou Yongkang," and "Restore the Good Name to Falun Dafa." Then I pasted up these small signs on the electric poles along the street, telephone booths, bus stations, district entrances, etc. Later, I felt that those messages should be posted near the heart of the evil persecutors' areas. One morning in 2003, I posted the "Unprecedented Injustice to Falun Dafa" message to the railing of Jinshui Bridge at Tiananmen Square. I also posted the "Bring the Evil Criminal Jiang Zemin to Court for Persecuting Falun Gong" sign on an electric post in front of the Great Hall of the People while leaning against the post when other tourists were taking pictures. One evening, while chatting with a stranger, with my hands behind my back I pasted the messages onto the wall of Tiananmen Square. With so many small truth-clarification messages appearing in public places, I thought that it would shock the evil as well as show the Chinese people that Dafa practitioners are not afraid.

It is not a simple thing to save a life; we are clarifying the truth amid the evils' frantic rumors and slander created to harm the people. I knew I must expose the evil more thoroughly. Thus, I used letter paper to duplicate copies about the truth of the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident and the truth of the "April 25" appeal, and distributed them to people passing by me. When I ran out of the source of truth-clarification materials, benevolent Master did not neglect me. In 2003, a part-time worker picked up a Falun Gong flyer and brought it in to our construction site. Based on this original information, I wrote several powerful articles and poems at night, which I copied to distribute to others. I posted the flyer, "The Whole World Tries Jiang Zemin" in public places and even to the windows of buses so that they would be seen everywhere. But no matter how hard I worked, this way of making copies was too slow and was impacting my time in studying the Fa. I knew I must again create a better environment.

In 2004, under the tender loving care of Master, the issue of copying truth-clarification materials was resolved with my righteous thoughts and my connections with local practitioners in Beijing. It was an encouragement from merciful Master! That year, Teacher published the article, "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People."

"For a Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple, personal liberation is not the goal of cultivation: when you came, saving sentient beings was your great aspiration, and that is the responsibility and mission history has bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification. Thus great numbers of beings are to be saved by you."

By this time, I felt the importance of the magnificent responsibility falling on our shoulders, remembering Teacher's emphasis that,

"...for the Dafa disciples in Mainland China: each must come out and clarify the truth, bringing it to every field and valley, mountain and hill, not omitting a single area where there are people".

Therefore, according to my capacity, I started to print truth-clarification materials, from 300 or 500 copies up to 1,000 copies, for distribution. As my job requires a great deal of mobility, moving from one place to another, I had to carry my toolbox on my left shoulder and the big bag of Falun Gong materials on my right shoulder. In many cases, I handed out materials to people in the bus waiting lines, to passengers, to people in the market, and I left a flyer on every bicycle parked on the roadside. While walking and distributing flyers, I always kept sending forth righteous thoughts. In 2004, while working in a district in Beijing, after work I distributed flyers in every neighborhood, each street, to every passenger - all kinds of flyers. In that area, I brought the truth to every field and valley, mountain and hill, everywhere. Sometimes, I really got the feeling conveyed in Teacher's poem, "Tathagata:"

"He comes with the Truth, which gives him full control
And travels the four seas with a free and easy spirit"

With firm belief in Master and in Dafa, within one year, I have distributed almost ten thousand copies of Falun Gong truth-clarification flyers. Many times I have experienced frightening but not truly dangerous situations while distributing flyers!

Now with the progress of the Fa-rectification, our duty is even greater. Not only should we clarify the truth, we should help people with the "Three Withdrawals" (withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party, the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers). This covers a bigger scope in saving the Chinese people, and this is why I have written this article. Please correct me if there is anything improper.
