[Editor's note: Prof. Sun Wenguang is one of the several outspoken intellectuals in China who dare to criticize China's human rights situation.]

The international media is forming a group to investigate the facts of the persecution in China. Many organizations and agencies are interested, and I want to join as well.

I believe that in order to resolve the Falun Gong issue, we must investigate the truth and reveal the truth, so that the truth can help restore the reputations of innocent people, and bring the killers to justice.

My personal information is as follows:

1) I am a retired professor from the Business Management Institute at Shandong University.

2) I have been detained twice. The first time was for six months in 1966, the second time was for three and a half years from 1974-1978. I have some knowledge of detention centers in China.

3) I was forced to serve three and a half years of forced labor from July 1978 to 1981 in the Jinan City Labor Camp Division, and worked in the Camp for one year from 1981-1982.

4) In 1988, I was elected as a Representative of the Jinan City Political Consultation Conference. I introduced a bill to investigate detention centers and improve the detainees' living conditions, but it was rejected. I have been thinking about investigating the detention centers for a long time.

5) In February 2005, I wrote an open letter to the National People's Congress, entitled "Must Investigate Large Numbers of Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured to Death." (This article is collected in my new book Calling Freedom, which will soon be published in Hong Kong).

6) After my open letter was posted, I received many letters, phone calls, and visits from victims and people who sympathized, which has helped me learn more facts about the persecution. The contents are also written about as "Letters and Phone Calls about Falun Gong" (collected in Calling Freedom)

7) In March 2006, I wrote an open letter to Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao, suggesting that they investigate the crimes involving the removal of living Falun Gong practitioners' organs in Sujiatun.

8). Many labor camps in China have become concentration camps to torture Falun Gong believers. In March 2006, Lawyer Mr. Gao Zhisheng and I initiated a petition to disintegrate the forced labor system, and we collected more than 500 signatures.

I am not a Falun Gong practitioner myself. Hence, I can provide materials from an independent standpoint in conducting an investigation. I would like to join the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (CIPFG) organized outside of China.
