Taiwan: The Vibrant and Valiant Waist Drum Team (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Our group of 41 Falun Gong practitioners flew to Hong Kong from Taiwan on April 28, 2006, to attend the activity of celebrating ten million withdrawals from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Our task was to play the waist drum. We knew that this task was special and sacred, so no matter where we were--on the plane or on the bus, our group was very quiet and did not play around or make noise, which was quite different than other tourist groups.

In going to Hong Kong to attend the parade, we had the important mission of saving people. We wished that the drumbeats, which are full of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance," would awaken the sentient beings who are still trapped in the maze, and those who haven't quit the CCP yet.

It was already 2 o'clock in the morning on April 29 when we arrived at the hotel. Some of us didn't sleep at all, and some of us just had a very short sleep, because it was already dawn when we finished the unpacking. But everyone still went to the square to do the exercises at 4:50 a.m.

Our schedule was quite busy. On April 29 and 30, we rehearsed drum playing with the fellow practitioners from other places in the morning, and in the afternoon, we attended two parades to celebrate the ten million withdrawals from the CCP. More than 1500 people from Hong Kong, Taiwan and overseas attended these activities. On Saturday, we took off from Victoria Park and ended in Queen's Harbor. On Sunday, we started from Kowloon and ended in Tsim Sha Tsui. Our parade team passed through the busiest streets and spots in Hong Kang.

We wore the traditional golden costumes, which were very eye-catching with the bright red waist drums. There were young kids and also white-haired older people in our team. Everyone marched in measured steps and played the drums with the beautiful and harmonic music, spreading "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and the wonderfulness of Falun Dafa on the streets in Hong Kong, and moving spectators' hearts.

The performance of the waist drum team deeply moved the spectators. The smiling people applauded to show their support. Tourists continuously took pictures. The policemen along the streets also applauded, and some of them waved or smiled.

None of us are trained musicians. We are from different social classes and different fields. Many of us are white-haired older people with minimal education. To achieve such a high-level performance, no one but we ourselves can imagine the hardship and the bitterness behind it. I know that the reason we can have such an achievement is that we are all cultivating in Dafa and we all have the same goal--saving the sentient beings.
