Mr. Zhang Shunlong Tortured and Killed in Police Custody

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Shunlong, 44, lived in the Xincheng Sixth Group, Yanping Township, Dongliao County, Jilin Province. On May 26, 2006, he was illegally arrested from his home by policemen from the local Liaoheyuan Police Station, and tortured and killed on the same day. His body was cremated on May 28, 2006 without his family's approval. His wife, also in detention at the time, was very distraught by his sudden death. She appeared mentally disoriented, and was released home.

Before Zhang Shunlong's arrest, his younger brother, Zhang Shunhong, and sister-in-law Liu Xiangzhuo had been arrested and detained in the Liaoyuan City Detention Center. The police arrested Zhang Shunlong using the excuse of stopping him from going to the Dongji Police Department to request the release of his younger brother. Currently, his older brother Zhang Shunming and sister-in-law (a non-practitioner) are all detained in the Liaoyuan City Detention Center.

On April 26, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioner Zhang Shunhong and his wife Liu Xiangzhuo were arrested and detained together with several practitioners. Early on the morning of May 26, 2006, Zhang Shunlong, his wife Lu Fengling and Ms. Lu's younger sister (a non-practitioner) and Zhang Shunlong's older brother, Zhang Shunming, planned to go to the Dongji Police Department to request the release of their family members, but they were all arrested by police from Liaoyuanhe Station. They spread the word that they would go to Beijing to appeal this injustice. The police brutally beat Mr. Zhang Shunlong, and eyewitnesses saw him falling to his death from the third floor of the police station building. He had been beaten until he was covered in blood -- it was terrible to see. Mr. Zhang's body was then dissected and cremated without the family's approval.

The Administration of the Liaoheyuan Police Station has sealed all information about Zhang Shunlong's death.

Mr. Zhang's family remaining at home consists of his elderly mother (in her 70s or 80s) and 2 young children, plus his wife, who was just released after suffering a mental breakdown.
