Letting Go of Life and Death
By a Falun Dafa practitioner in China
(Clearwisdom.net) Since the incidents at Sujiatun came to light, some
practitioners have been unable to understand how such things could happen to
those who would sooner give up their lives than their practice of Falun Dafa. I
would like to share my understanding. In 2001, I was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. As a result
of the tortures I suffered, my whole body was covered with sores that oozed pus
and blood. I was unable to walk normally and had to remain in bed 24 hours a
day. I would have to get up two or three times just to finish a bowl of rice
porridge. I was extremely weak, and my greatest wish was to die. At the time,
all I could think was that I was suffering too much and that I could not take
any more. But I knew I would never be "transformed" or give up my
practice of Dafa, and I knew that my death would mean consummation. When I look back now, however, I can see that these thoughts were not based
on Dafa and did not belong to a Fa-rectification practitioner. They illustrated,
rather, the old forces' selfish path of letting go of life and death for
personal consummation. The old method of cultivation also required people to let
go of life and death, but we are cultivating during Fa-rectification, and we
have to fulfill our oath to bring salvation to sentient beings. We do not
recognize the old forces' arrangement, and we do not walk the path the old
forces set up. Do we let go of life and death for personal consummation? Or do
we let go of them while safeguarding the Fa, bringing salvation to sentient
beings, and completing the path that Master has planned for us? This is my personal understanding. Kindly point out my mistakes. May 22, 2006
