By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Shanghai
(Clearwisdom.net) [Note: The following is a shortened version of a
longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website
(Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).] Since July 20, 1999, practitioner Mr. Zhang Qin from Shanghai has been
persecuted by lawless officials. He was illegally detained many
times. He was held for one month at a Beijing custody center, four years at the
Shanghai Tilanqiao Prison, one year at a labor camp, and also at Jingan District
Detention Center and the Xuhui District Detention Center, after which he was
released while awaiting trial. On November 8, 2005, officers from the Minhang
Police Department in Shanghai arrested and detained him, and his current
whereabouts is unknown. Mr. Zhang is in his 50s. He was a technical expert at the Shengde Plastics
Corporation Ltd. in Shanghai. He held the positions of head of the Quality
Inspection Section, chief engineer, and assistant office director. He was
brutally persecuted only because he persisted in practicing Falun Gong. In March
2001, Mr. Zhang was arrested for the fourth time and was forced to stand facing
a wall for six days and nights at the Xuhui Detention Center, until he became
delirious. His feet ulcerated and he was on the brink of death. During the early
stage of his four-year detention at Tilanqiao Forced Labor Camp in Shanghai,
each day the guards or inmates savagely beat him for about two hours. His
father, who is in his 80s, and ill mother constantly worry about their son's
safety. Recently, his mother collapsed from a serious condition and was
hospitalized.
